These are cheaper across the board from the previously rumored prices through GameStop. No $120 for a 32GB memory card, though it's still quite high. $20 for 4GB is much more in line with a proprietary format price than $30, though.

$20 for 4GB is fine, in my mind. I thought $30 was excessive, but unless you want to really get into DD, that should be good for saves / demos, until the prices come down later on and everything gets cheaper.

That launch lineup is p amazing... Uncharted, Wipeout, Gravity Rush, BlazBlue, Dynasty Warriors, UMvC3...
But god DAMN dat $100 32 gig. I think I'll wait and see the average size of each game, because I think 16GB should be enough for like 3-5 games, plus some PSP and PS1 classix, but I dunno, $60 is still a lot. At least it's not as bad as the PSP sticks. 8GB for that was (and still is, I think) $50, and it's not even 100% proprietary to the PSP, since it's used in some cameras and stuff too.
Your idea of fine is interesting. You can get a 16GB SD card for less than that, and for about $10 more you could get a 32 GB. That's a whole lot of profiteering.
I think the biggest launch game is about 3GB? The 32GB is pretty ridiculous, but I don't think it's even necessary to have a memory card that big. I guess if you want a lot of games ready to go, but you can always just transfer old ones off to make room for new ones. 16GB is the highest I would think about going, but 8GB would really be enough.

Oh, I don't mean in comparison to other memory card prices, just what could be expected from a proprietary format. I think everyone understands that the prices are high to make a big profit, since the Vita itself is only maybe breaking even at $250.

Well that's the thing, the launch games will be 3GB, but later the games will get bigger and bigger. PSP games at first were like 700MB, then the latest ones are 1.5-2GB. The problem is that, when Vita games start to get bigger in many years, Sony will still be selling these things for the same price.
awesome, still definitely getting the little Deviants bundle, even if it IS the model I dont want. The 3G may come in handy later.

I think they'll get cheaper later, once they come up with a 64GB that replaces the 32GB for $99.99. I imagine whenever they redesign the system (Vita "slim") in a few years it'll have some internal memory, too.

I'm interested in a bunch of those games, but after being burned on early adoption of the 3DS I think I'll wait and see how things go with the Vita.
UMvC3 on the go sounds tempting, but I can't imagine it will play very well on Vita controls. Phoenix Wright's evidence and Taskmaster's Legion Arrow in particular seem like they'd be a pain, not to mention mashing hyper combos.
Oh hey I just noticed they announced accessory prices as well. $40 starter kit with 4GB card and card case and pouch and headphones and stuff could be cool...
though I am most interested in the carrying case, which looks cool... but flimsy? I think I would want a harder case if I was carrying it in my bag...
