You know, it never really hit me at the time that it was really interesting, but it finally did now. I kept remembering it throughout my life time, but just now am like "holy crap".
They were kind of Egyptian and were off of the path that tourists are allowed to travel on. It is a government preserved park and you aren't allowed to travel off the path or you will face HUUUUGE fines. MAYBE something bigger is going on off of the path allowed to tourists than just archeologists dig sites.
