yes I just ate a surprise death and lost about four floors of progress and am super salty

it is still dumb and adds nothing to the games and there is no reason for it ARGH

YUP

That's why FF13 is the best with retries if you die.

and I was just thinking to myself "oh it's been a while since I saved, maybe I should Goho-M just to be safe" but then I just died instead

this beats chocobo racing for making you want to throw your controller at something

Well it's only in because in Persona 3 you were only able to play as the main character and just gave orders to the other three. And in the rest of the SMT series it's because usually you have the MC and some demons who are following him around.

But in Persona 4 you have no excuse for not using a Goho-M and saving after every floor unless it's early on and you're broke. It's lifesaver and a timesaver.

also I want to know why an attack that knocks you down to 1HP exists in a game where a character dying means game over

attack knocks you down to 1 HP

next enemy casts megidola, which hits everyone so your party member can't push you out of the way

gg

like how ****ing stupid is that oh my god

I think it's terrible that the Homonucleus* can save your party members from instant death. WHO CARES

NOTHING BEATS CHOCOBO RACING FOR THAT.

I will never forget watching my best friend play that and almost making him cry I was trolling him so bad when he lost.

I made sure I was alone when I did that part for myself.

This pretty much never bothered me, though I also avoided fighting after the first 2-3 or so floors in a dungeon. >_>

I map out every floor and fight every enemy I run into. Seems like it's important to do that, between the couple of hard bosses and the treasure you need to obtain and sell.

yeah I will do that. I've been doing it every couple floors but was feeling pretty confident. I was overleveled, most of the enemies in the final dungeon seem to use physical attacks and I had null physical, and everyone had full HP/SP. in any other game you just wouldn't expect to die in a situation like that. it's pretty frustrating.

yes this. that just seems like a straight up poor design choice. I don't think they thought that one through.

NOTHING BEATS CHOCOBO RACING FOR THAT.

actually now that I think about it it's not a great comparison. chocobo racing is a dull repeating bludgeoning where you keep trying something over and over and can't do it. sudden death in Persona is more like dodging lightning where you get to 198 and everything's looking good then suddenly you get hit and have to start all over.

I always ran through without fighting until I reached the checkpoint. If I got sucked in I would just run away. Then after saving, I'd just fight on the floor beneath me and save after each fight.

I think you people play this game wrong

I can't talk though because I read a FAQ to figure out the best answer for every social link because I can't bear to not be a completionist

my sin is probably more egregious

Maybe Hard mode is different, but on Normal, doing dungeons in 2 or 3 days (or, in Persona 3, doing one boss per night) while running a lot after a point didn't leave me feeling underleveled. Sure, some of the Tartarus bosses kinda sucked, but I found dealing with them is mostly just a matter of having the right team/Personas.

No, you are playing it right and I have noticed lately that most game opinions you have are right.
