From: Paratroopa1 | #184 I like how the Bengals clinched the playoff spot anyway when the Broncos lost. Good lord, all of the backing into the playoffs in the AFC is ridiculous. The Bengals backed in, the Texans backed in, and now the Broncos are probably going to back in the worst of all of them. Pats, Ravens, and Steelers are the only legit teams in that damn conference.
Eh, I wouldn't call the Texans backing in. They've got a bit of a unique circumstance with that injury situation, but I suppose it's an understandable accusation, injuries part of the game and all. I do think they're one of the weaker playoff teams given their situation though.
The AFC 6 Seed was absolutely a "who wants this the least" battle however. The fact that the Jets were still in that conversation at all going into this week is a testament to that. They had already lost 3 games and gotten the help they needed to stay in the discussion each and every time, and went one hilarious 2-point conversion away from it being a 4th week where they would have actually gotten in had they, you know, decided not to be terrible today.

man i would have been so pissed if the texans hadn't been dumb
Honestly, I kind of saw this coming. In terms of "things that could **** the Jets" my threatdown was this:
Titans > Jets > AFC West > Bengals
The Dolphins always scared me in this game. For weeks. I was more afraid of them than I was of the Eagles and Giants back when the Jets were 8-5. Jets are always good for blowing a division game they should have won and they hadn't done it yet. For a second there when they fired their HC I thought maybe they'd escape, but they rallied instead of turning into a mess and I was back to dreading this game. I do agree the Titans win does take some of the sting off this though. Jets honestly didn't deserve to make the playoffs after the jokes they've put up the last three weeks, but to see everything break their way except they couldn't beat the Dolphins would have been pretty bad.

If I didn't know better, I'd swear the Cowboys want the Giants to win.
Dallas has come to the realization that the NFC East Champion is likely to be the weakest NFC playoff team and rather than embarrass themselves against the Falcons they're going for the higher draft pick.

Anyway, Cowboys need to get back in this game so we can discover what inventive new way they'll manage to implode in the 4th quarter this time. But they need the lead for it to be a proper implosion, so they've got to turn this around.

Plus like I said, Giants will probably keep their "been down at some point in every game this year" streak

SuperNiceDog is a SuperGuruGuy! I made a stupid bet with Alec. It cost me my testicles & sig. Take all my money and I could own the Mets.
From: WiggumFan267 | #214 Have you seen the Falcons play on the road?
Not really, no. But I have seen the Cowboys play in the 4th Quarter. I'll take "Opposing Team" any time. Giants would be the more threatening team here because the Cowboys refuse to win games.

Every team in the playoffs this year is flawed. The Packers are 15-1 and have played the best, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see them lose before the Super Bowl. Their defense is awful except for the fact that they force a lot of turnovers, and they have no running game to speak of. The 49ers have Alex Smith at quarterback. The Saints are terrible on the road. The Giants are schizophrenic. The Lions have the same problems as the Packers: No defense and no running game. The Falcons have defensive issues, and their offense can be inconsistent.
The Patriots have the most porous pass defense of all time. The Ravens inexplicably put up bad performances on the road. The Steelers are weak on the line. The Texans are riddled with injuries. The Broncos can't play offense before the 4th quarter at best. The Bengals struggled pretty badly down the stretch.
Who knows what's going to happen this year? But that's what's going to make it great!

Honestly, the only thing stopping the Packers are the Packers themselves, IMO. As long as Rodgers keeps up the kind of numbers he's been getting all season, I think the only team they need to be scared of is the Saints, who can just try and beat them in a shoot-out. If Rodgers has a bad game they are in so much trouble though.
In the AFC it's down to the Ravens/Steelers, IMO. The Patriots are kind of like the Packers/Saints except I think the NFC Teams are better at it. Those are winnable games for them, but I dunno, I don't think they do it.
I'd be pretty surprised if either conference sends any of their 4-6 seeds to the Super Bowl, with the exception of the Steelers. If I had to guess right now I'd say AFC Championship is Ravens/Steelers III and the NFC Championship is Packers/Saints II, and I could see both of those games going either way.
Edit: Actually, wait... Ravens/Steelers III implies the injured Texans beat the Bengals... I think they can win that game, but I don't know if I'd necessarily expect them to.

This is kind of disappointing, actually. I was getting ready for this to be the LOLbowl, but it just doesn't feel as meaningful with the Cowboys hanging behind by this many points.
