I was watching Gundam Wing just now and I heard my back door slam open. I'm pretty sure someone just tried breaking into my house.
Anyway, as soon as I heard my door slam open, I heard my dog start barking loudly. More intensely then I've ever heard before. She's a pretty big dog. About 100 pounds, rottweiler.
She's now in my back yard barking excitedly. My gate is wide open.

it was probably the wind blowing up the door that you didn't have shut tightly and the dog went bonkers over it because they are dumb animals that bark at all noises.

Ayvuir posted... This is why Dogs >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Cats.
A cat would have just **** itself and run away.
Though not as commonly done as dogs, cats have definitely attacked intruders before. I recall one incident where a young girl was being threatened by a burglar, and her black cat (who she rescued off the side of the road) jumped on the guy's head and dug its claws into his scalp. "Ouch." It got him to run off and let her call the police.

Yeah, it was probably the wind. I mean, what robber would break in via slamming a door? If you slam a door open you might as well have a gun to take care of anyone who hears the slamming.
Alternatively, maybe someone had already broken in quietly and the slam was via their escape.
Or it was the wind.
Or there's someone behind the shower curtain right now...
Yeah, dogs can be awesome. A guy once jumped into my backyard when I was nine, but our german shepard chased him off immediately. My mom called the cops immediately, who promised to come.
Four hours later, after they'd not arrived, she told them not to bother.
But yeah, dogs can be awesome.

I doubt the robber was armed and wanting a confrontation if the dog stopped it, and you heard the door slam so it's not like they would've snuck in without the dog there.
So what I mean is the dude probably would've run away if you came to investigate too
