i mean i guess this works. bourne was out for so long that the tag belts stopped feeling like something was happening with 'em. but i'm not so sure this is the right team to have 'em go to seeing how the uso's.... do seem like they can totally win it. which i guess is a good thing but it doesn't feel like the tag belts are being elevated at all.

I also love the idea of (slightly) more frequent house show title changes in the social media era. Not only does it make house shows seem more important, the news spreads virally, and it gets people discussing and talking about WWE when there's no televised show on, in a POSITIVE manner and not because someone died or got arrested. <_<

i'm pretty sure that's half the goal here! and yeah, a primo/epico vs. uso's fight would be fun, for both teams. it's not really elevating the title any but it'll be fun. just kinda hard to take primo seriously despite the gimmick change for me. and i STILL don't know who epico is.

Well, the only way to properly elevate Tag Titles is for actual teams to feud over them. Just having people higher up the card form a team and win them because they had nothing better to do does "elevate" the titles up the card, but it also makes them feel like an afterthought.

Having an ACTUAL DIVISION where teams form with the #1 goal being those damn penny belts, not expressly looking for singles gold, is the ideal. WWE does not have that, but this is one step in that direction at least.

That's 5 solid, distinctly different tag teams right there. There are plenty more lowcarders going nowhere that could gel together. Triple H supposedly enjoys having a better tag division. It's such an easy way to get people over because no formula in wrestling is more proven to work than the Tag Team Match formula.

This is all just a pipe dream I'm sure, but it's all right there!

I think the problem with the tag team division is simply that they're in a loop where to elevate the titles, they need someone to win the belts in a compelling fashion, but to have that happen, they need to have a team that it actually matters to defeat.

I remember my idea way back during the Edge/Jericho days was to have them kick some ass for a while until a story could develop about how they won because they were such incredible individual stars, but some underdog face team would eventually take them down by showing that individual talent isn't what counts, being a cohesive team is, and then you actually set the tag team division apart as something special *and* show why the main event superstar team ups don't happen even more often (because right now it kind of hurts the division that, say, Cena and Ryder haven't just decided to yoink the titles for free like they clearly could - having a solid reason why they couldn't just auto-win by virtue of being bigger names would help remove that "the titles don't mean much since big names don't always grab them" feeling). JeriShow continued to make that a possibility, but of course then DX got involved and the whole thing fell apart.

I think with tag teams just being so consistently irrelevant, you need to get a main event spur of the moment that will cleanly put over a more dedicated team in a legitimately interesting story in order to really make people buy into the division as mattering again, because I don't think even a brilliant Epico/Primo vs Usos feud would help all that much, simply because both teams are so meaningless right now that one beating the other isn't *that* big a deal.

They KINDA had that when The Hart Dynasty finally broke through against Show-Miz. The crowd actually cared and popped and everything!

Then after a brief feud with the Usos the belts just got forgotten.

I could have gotten most of that, aside from the part where my brain is suddenly going "wait, there was a freaking Show/Kane title reign in recent years?!" because I definitely don't remember that.

And yeah, Hart Dynasty beating ShowMiz kind of achieved something, but yeah, nothing came of it and they kind of overshadowed that story with Bret's involvement anyway.

I still find it interesting that Epico was debuted along with Hunico but somehow Primo has gained relevance thanks to it (not complaining, another amazing worker that often is forgotten in favor of Tyson Kidd). Now Hunico is kind of just going around.

The whole Sin Cara thing kind of killed Hunico's purpose, although I guess I'm not sure what he'd be doing anyway since their feud felt like it was dragging out as it was. I think that since they are doing Edge's induction now would be a great time to launch the revitilazation because they can have an easy starting point. Debut or repackage a team saying that they loved the TLC days and E&C, Dudleys, and Hardys were there heros. Have them compete for a while and put the titles on them in a couple of months, have them look good and have some flashback moves with some new tweaks as well. I am sure a corkscrew Poetry in Motion is possible and would be over like crazy. Have them defend in an emotional environment at TLC and go from there.

But seriously, I think his job is more along the lines of dealing with talent-related issues for people currently on the roster. They're supposed to report to him if they're having an issue with something, and likewise he's the liaison from upper management to the talent.
