Nah, only Gingrich would get destroyed. Romney would probably win in a close one, and Santorum is charismatic enough to lose in a close one. That's unless the economy continues recovering as fast as it did the past 2 months (unlikely), in which case we'll see the Dow hit a new all-time high by November and Obama has it locked up.

Though I suppose it is possible to artificially make the Dow hit an all-time high by just inflating the currency enough. That wouldn't help Obama in the election though.

They didn't. But the implication that Fox somehow is beholden to do what we want is incorrect.

That should go without saying. But I resent the implication that it is improper for viewers of a show to complain to the network about its cancellation. And actually mentioning "property rights" with a straight face in this context is inflammatory, insulting, and borderline libelous.

Well yeah, viewers have the right to complain, I just think the complaining was probably a bit over the top, and the Judge is still a Fox employee and getting really loud and hateful with the complaints was certainly not doing him any favors.

Hmm, I guess I would say that basically, regulation is evil but taxation is okay. As long as taxation is not applied to regulate- i.e. you can put in a progressive income tax, but you cannot put in a tax on a specific industry because the government does not like that industry.

That contraceptive article was entirely pointless. It says the point is invalid because it only looks at people that are having sex that don't want to get pregnant.

Obviously anybody that isn't having sex or doesn't want to get pregnant won't be using contraceptives. Why would ANYONE use contraceptive if those two things are true?

Sure, you can say "that 98% is misleading! It's only referring to people who don't want to get pregnant, not all women!" But the very fact that they'd be using contraception or not implies the context that they don't want to have children. It's about as misleading as saying, say, 90% of people are on the pill. Well, men can't use it, so obviously this statistic only applies to women. It applies to... the people that it would apply to.



It's such a dumb point I can't believe that a guy made an article about it, let alone that you linked it and called it "brilliant." Obviously a statistic about who is using contraceptives would only relate to people who might want to use contraceptives.


The only reasonable point that article made is the one about how 2/5 of the women say they don't go to church much, so you might not actually be able to say they are catholic. But at the same time, that alone is hardly enough information to make that call about a persons beliefs.

Hardline Catholics who don't want to become pregnant and don't want to use contraceptives would necessarily have to do something else, such as not having sex, choosing to go ahead and have children after all, etc. That's what he's arguing, that the statistic is bad because it's saying only 2% of people don't want become pregnant and nonetheless take zero precautions against it.

Why is this thing even a debate? The purpose of the legislation is to ensure that everybody has access to contraception; this claim of "religious persecution" is pure misdirection. The church/insurance companies don't want to provide contraception because they don't want to pay for it. If a church said it was against paying for surgeries in its health care plan, because, I don't know, the surgeon is "playing god" or something, would that be okay?
