Huge & Morbid Update

So the local fortune teller recommends that I head north, and Bernice just now remembers that she was visiting her grandparents in Agate Village to the north before she got distracted (kidnapped). Away we go!

Inside Agate Village, which is apparently this region's retirement community, I check out the town. I finally find the name rater, and Socko and Regaro are officially named. I can finally stop looking at my name cheat sheet for every single Pokemon! Anyway, I also drop off Pram the Underdog in the daycare since there is no way I can purify it in battle without it dying.

I finally meet Bernice's grandparents, and the grandfather turns out to be Gandalf. That's not his name, but I'm sure he is incognito or something, because the man is most definitely Gandalf. Before he can teach me how to purify Shadow Pokemon (we all know that's why we're even in this village) their sacred shrine comes under attack, and Gandalf rushes off to kick some ass. Bernice and I, having no other way to advance the plot, decide to follow him.

In the tree-cave place I encounter several Cipher ninjas! Feeling cocky, I figure Regaro and Raka Putra can take care of business. The enemy's Carvanha thought other wise. First turn, Secret Power, critical hit, no more Raka Putra the Meditite. ... Wait, what just happened? Regaro and ShadowHalo sweep the rest of the area, and I am still in shock.

When we reach the shrine in a clearing, it is Cipher Peon Skrub versus Gandalf the Pokemon. Unfortunately, Skrub's Shadow Hitmontop decimates Gandalf's level 50 Pikachu, and Gandalf's lifelong Nuzlocke run ends just like that. Damn, that is harsh.

My turn, and how did the Hitmontop get healed? Gandalf's pathetic Pikachu definitely paralyzed it. Whatever. Socko and Mcflubbin against a Wynaut (forget about him until later) and Shadow Hitmontop. In one turn a Confusion and Slam combo brings the Hitmontop into the red and confuses him. My first snag attempt fails, and recoil damage from Shadow Rush brings its health down to a sliver. Uh oh. My second ultra ball also fails after one shake, and the moron then hurts himself due to confusion, killing himself. Why can't I have a fighting type? Why must they all die? He did give some good experience though.

Skrub's Clamperl and Geodude are cake, and then I remember the Wynaut, which had been using Mirror Coat the entire time. Ok, I got this, just gotta switch and then use status ailments to cheapshot it. "SHADOWTAG" Oh, fine then. It continues with Mirror Coat, so I gently, physically weaken it until "Wynaut used Counter." Fortunately, Mcflubbin survived, and I won.

Skrub reveals that their plan was to capture Celebi (ha, no one can do that in game, try a Nintendo event next time) before running away. Gandalf mourns his clearly dead Pikachu, some stuff happens, and I gain the thing that lets me purify Pokemon! Also, Duking emails me telling me that Mt. Battle is under attack, but I am more interested in the fact that I can change my ringtone. How awesome is that? I picked Melody 6.

Purification Time!
The following Pokemon opened their hearts:
Ayvuir
Kibago
Suor
Articuno
Mycro
Mcflubbin

(took her out of the daycare)

I then head to Mt. Battle, which is made of giant numbered platforms hovering above a giant gorge. Hooray! I decided to lead with Mycro and Nio. The first three trainers go down, but then trainer number 4 sends out a Baltoy and Pineco. I expected a kaboom, and certain death, but it never came, and they went down easily as well.

Almost halfway there, come on trainer 5. They sent out a Barbiach and a Trapinch. Then this happened. "Mycro ain't goin' nowhere, Trapinch has Arena Trap. Barboach used Magnitude. MAGNITUDE 9!!!!!! Critical HAX!?!?!" NO, NOT Mycro the Quilava. I was so close to Typhlosion too. After defeating her, trainer 5 is promptly shoved off the floating platform to her doom.

At this point, I stupidly decide to press on. Trainer 6 has a Cacnea. That Cacnea had a Needle Arm. Mcflubbin had a face, and it got smacked by said Needle Arm. And thus, Mcflubbin the Quagsire, my main strategy against the upcoming boss, is no more. At this point, I survive the battle, and finally realize that I am underleveled and am now capable of some training. Let's do that then.
