Anything's possible with ectobiology and dream bubbles.

That's another thing; this troll is connected to UU somehow, who also wears Karkat/Sufferer's symbol. We know Mindfang didn't follow The Sufferer, and of course it doesn't make sense for the pre-scratch ancestors to follow the Sufferer, since that was before that happened (and Sufferer specifically would be part of their group).

Of course, we don't know anything about pre-scratch troll culture, so they could have followed a religion that has to do with the Cancer sign.

That, or they're from a universe ahead of the one we're currently seeing (which fits in to UU claiming that the exploits of the trolls are "history" or something), where trolls live in peace and they realized The Sufferer's dream via Karkat (who was prophesized by the Sufferer to lead the troll race to glory). It's not too far out there! But who knows why she'd be dead in that case.

So........yeah.

Haha wow. Well how about that. It's amazing how a couple of images alone can cause the fandom to pretty much explode.

But yeah, the John/Vriska thing suddenly lends credence to those UU=Karkat/Jade baby theories. I wouldn't be too surprised if these new trolls were combinations of the human kids and the old trolls.

Though UU's world=pre-scratch Alternia is a theory I've had for a while. I thought UU's horns kinda sunk it but maybe not.

I feel like it just makes sense that A1 interacts with B2 in the same way that A2 interacted with B1. The symmetry just makes sense in my head and it brings everything full circle, and it adds an extra sense of purpose to a few hanging plot threads.

For instance, the most immediate reason we were told about the Trolls' ancestors would seem to be to give backdrop to the Trolls' world. The more important reason we were told the story was because it basically directly told us about the guardian swap that would happen in act 6, by explaining how the rules for the scratched session worked when the pre-scratch Trolls did it. But neither of those reasons still really quite explain all of the elaboration we got about the Sufferer and his followers. Is it merely backdrop, or is there a more interesting reason we were told about them?

Another reason is Feferi. Feferi is a character who would seem important, but basically never did anything. She does a couple of things and has some character interactions, yes, and she is there to fill the Pisces slot, sure, but for someone who would supposedly eventually rule Alternia she is like the least important troll somehow, and it doesn't really seem like she's about to re-enter the story anytime soon. So what's her deal? One thing her existence provides us with is backdrop on the Condesce, who is clearly a far more important character, and one directly related to her. But what if Feferi also gives us a clue about two other characters - pre-scratch Feferi and Condesce? What if Feferi was there to give us a clue about what pre-scratch Alternia would be like, since it would be ruled by her? I just feel like she's suddenly a much more important character if pre-scratch Alternia winds up being important.

It's just little things like this that get tied up very neatly if, indeed, A1 and its characters (the pre-scratch ancestors) are now coming into play. We don't know quite enough yet to be sure - this could completely be NOT what's happening at all - but I don't really have any other good explanations for UU and this new Vriska-like troll. If it's not A1, and it's certainly not A2, it would have to be some new universe entirely, possibly the byproduct of whatever the current trolls are doing, but I don't know. I think it's A1.

The biggest question this leads me to is still who exactly UU is though, and why she is represented by the caduceus and has the cancer symbol on her cufflinks. I don't think the fact that both UU and the Vriska-esue troll have the Sufferer symbol means they are definitely not pre-scratch Alternians - the 69 could simply have some different origin and meaning there, although one that is certainly circumstantially tied to the Sufferer in some way, I imagine.

That would be pretty depressing, since it means Doc Scratch and Lord English always win no matter what.

Unless the final act is everyone going into the newly created pre-scratch Troll universe to defeat Doc Scratch once and for all and break the loop? Maybe that's what The Ultimate Riddle is. Every time it's been mentioned has been in discussions pertaining to time loops and inevitability, after all.

If the loop theory turns out to be right, the only way I'd really like it is if the kids are ultimately the ones that cause it. Then, they self-contain it within those 4 universes and find a way into a 5th, so that they're the orchestrator of their own predestination, which they thought they'd been slaves to the whole time.

Or something similar.

I just really can't see Homestuck ending with a 'bad ending' for the main characters after all this.



Also, theory about the sufferers sign (this is assuming it really is pre-scratch Alternia): in this universe, Karkat somehow got the same sign anyway, and led the movement to stop prejudice against blood colors. This is why UU, a follower of Karkat's teaching, uses gray text- because according to Karkat's beliefs, blood color shouldn't matter and thus shouldn't be announced like it does.

I'd imagine that this, combined with Feferi's ruling, probably would be what led to troll society being 'weak' in the pre-scratch Alternia.
