And yet, the blue states credit scores still remain higher even though they decreased more.

According to that article, the average credit score in the U.S. is around 750. That's pretty damn good - certainly better than I would have guessed.

Does it say which scoring system that's based on?

call me back when they do a study that includes how state governments are split

michigan, which is in the bottom 10, is controlled by the republican party despite a bunch of people voting a black democrat into office

Members of the republican party have been pretty horrible with their spending: bridge to nowhere, Ted Stevens pork projects + bribes, etc. and that only going with a single state.

The topic is more about ideologies. People who vote Democrat are more likely to have a sense of entitlement and want to live beyond their means, and expect the government to bail them out.

And in Michigan, there is a Republican governor. It's almost like there's people who voted for Obama and left the rest of the ballot blank because they don't believe in the Democratic party.

This description screams Republican to me.

Democrats strike me more as people that don't require bailouts because they don't put themselves in ridiculous debt to begin with.

It was a Republican governor that put Michigan into debt. Then a Democratic governor that couldn't get a single thing through a Republican-controlled state legislature. Now we're back to having a Republican as governor, and our credit rating dropped.

Oh, and if Obama hadn't given a loan to the auto industry, Michigan probably would've been #1 on that list by a massive margin. Not that it's much better anyway.

This is on a state by state basis though, with some poorer states still being republican

what about it is lying? it is clear that it is %, not total amount. my point with the graph was not "democrats spend less than republicans", it was that republicans do not live within their means either.

1. Five people are hardly representative of the general population and 2. It doesn't matter how much debt there is so much as how well it can be paid off.

I'm $90K in debt and I'm doing just fine.

I agree that it supports your point

that doesn't change the fact that it's clearly designed to make the Republicans look far worse

a normal person looking at that would read it as Obama increasing the debt the least of any President, when it's pretty clear that Clinton was lower (and probably Reagan; I don't feel like calculating it out)

It didn't help that the Democratic Governor said "Screw the auto industry, we're going to become the EDUCATION STATE!"

Yeah, not a good plan.

do I really have to calculate this out jeez

using 100% as a static value for the pre-Reagan debt:

Bush 2: 527.77469%
Obama: 399.5131665%
Reagan: 189%
Clinton: 165.7415%
Bush 1: 158.95%

average Democrat increase: 282.6273333%
average Republican increase: 291.90823%

conclusion: everyone spends at ridiculous rates

Also, the credit ratings track best with income, so the conclusion one might be able to draw from these claims is that poorer people support the democrat party.
