A lot of people theorized this. I didn't want to believe it (dragon on human ick) but I guess that's the route they're going.

The forums are pretty spot on with predictions.... but yeah, this is a rough strip.

Though I encourage you to edit the opening post to make sure people who have never read the series get spoiled.

To such people: read this webcomic! Even if you aren't a huge fan of DnD it's a really consistently good webcomic once the author decided to make it one. Originally he never planned for a long term story so it starts a bit weak, but it definitely picks up and is just a fantastic webcomic. Give it a try!

Oh lol, looks like he repeated a title again. Reminds me of "It takes a thief"(the second title being edited).

Of course to be fair remembering 800+ titles isn't the easiest thing to do.

It doesn't take long to get decent (I'd say in the teens it starts being a decently funny strip) but the plot takes a bit longer to kick in and get really good. I'd say read up until strip 30 and if you cannot stand it then you're probably safe to stop. If you find it mildly amusing or intriguing finish the first arc and then decide.

Holy s***. I did not see that coming whatsoever. I'm glad I don't read the forums so this stuff doesn't get spoiled for me. I can't even fathom how they predicted that. Predicting that the familicide would come back to bite them in the ass, sure, but not like this.

Up... a OotS discussion thread could be fun, though maybe we shouldn't make one out of a topic with huge spoilers in the first post.

Yeah, this, pretty much everything I know about DnD has come from looking into clarification on some of the stuff in OotS that I didn't fully understand. Awesome webcomic, pretty much everyone should give it a try, and its been especially awesome of late.

It's such a consistently enjoyable webcomic too. I can go to a random page and end up reading 10-20 strips just since I always get sucked in no matter where in the plot I end up reading.

i haven't read this strip regularly in a while.

but if i remember correctly, here's how the comic goes:
-it starts off funny
-it then begins getting a plot, which is different and good
-it catches onto the self-referential humor bit at a certain point and becomes lovable
-it starts sucking for a long time when they introduce the paladin and the plot slows to a crawl
-the plot moves reeealllly slowly
-after you get past that hump you probably already enjoy the characters and would enjoy watching them do anything (the journey, not the destination, blah blah)
-the plot continues to move extremely slowly for the remainder of the everything
-the plotonium/invincibility of certain characters ruins any and all tension, but its supposed to be a stress-free romp, so i guess that might not ruin it for you

i guess i forgot to mention it has extremely high polish & quality throughout (well, maybe just everything past the first dozen, and the quality constantly improves)

There is no player. It's set in a D&D world where characters are aware of game mechanics existing and of the idea of playing D&D games but it's not an actual campaign, in-universe they're meant to be real people.
