I said blood AND dragon blood matters, and that Chronic specifically says "Every living creature that is directly (not blood) related to any of those creatures is also dead." In other words, he is saying that any direct relation would kill you, and it has nothing to do with blood relations. See, Penelope, no matter what, will always be blood related to the dragon blood child. She was doomed. Tarquin, even if he has a kid with Penelope, will NEVER be blood related to the dragon blood child and will always be removed from the direct bloodline. That's why he was always safe, even if they had a kid, and while Elan/Nale were safe as well.

If Chronic meant something else, that's fine, but what I read is that he's saying that blood relation doesn't matter, and you just have to be directly related.

There have been hundreds of posts on the official forums about the mechanics of the spell. I dunno if it really matters in the long run. The point is a lot of s*** happened.

I'd like to see the new people post their comments as they read through! There are some big moments that'd be fun to see their reactions to. Hopefully they can dance around the spoilers here.

If you want new people to post in this topic much you are going to need to start using spoiler warnings. I avoid reading anything that actually discusses the strip so I won't get spoiled.

That's the reason there are always new topics for people reading Homestuck for the first time. I could do a seperate topic like that though.

Thor > Belkar > Haley > Durkon > Roy > V > Elan

I just finished what seems to be the first Act. They "beat" the bad guy and blew up the castle.

And now I just read a strip that was one big Who's on First gag.

That was a bit much. But at least it had the purpose of them confusing Roy as a king.

They're cryptograms. The key changes in every strip, so you can either have lots of fun figuring them out yourself, or buy No Cure for the Paladin Blues and War and XPs, which have full translations in the author commentary.

I would probably consider this comic to be better than Homestuck

I would not quite go that far.
This is a delayed reaction on my part, I know, but consider this:

If Order of the Stick updated daily or near-daily, and Homestuck updated at the glacial weekly or bi-weekly pace that OotS does now, which one would you prefer?

Still Homestuck likely. I prefer the writing style.

If the amount of content was drastically changed however, then this could likely change. But that would be a quantity issue, not a quality issue.

One of the things I like about OotS. It can be seriously, but it still throws a joke in before things get too grimdark(which isn't to say horrible things don't happen).

I enjoyed the trial storyline. Very fun.

Are there really a lot of people who view alignments as black and white super strict rules that a character can't stray from? Like the closing argument talked about. That seems like a boring and limiting way to play. Not to mention unnecessary.

That's been a somewhat major complaint about D&D for... well, for as long as alignments have existed.

Huh.

I guess I've just played with more lax people or something. I've always seen alignments as a good indicator of personality and just another way to help define your character. So having a Good character seduce the innkeeper so that we could stay for free never seemed out of character or problematic.

If I was with strict people I would play nothing but neutral characters.

Anyway, I've moved into the third Act (for lack of a better word). Looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Dang it, I meant to edit not delete.

Anyway, I'm glad the DMs and players I've played with have never cared about being super strict with alignments. I'd have to play nothing but Neutral characters.

Anyway, I'm on to the third Act or whatever. Love the Inigo Montoya reference.

It's a recurring theme in OotS. Miko represents the players who treat Lawful Good as an excuse to demand certain behavior of other party members ("My character wouldn't stay with people that do this! If you do this my character would leave the group."), while Belkar is the players who treat Chaotic Evil characters as an excuse to screw over the party because "my character would do that." It comes up time and time again.

Yes, OotS isn't meant to represent a campaign world where there are human players behind each character, but you can treat it like that for a few things and some arcs are more interesting that way.

He, Belkar, and Haylee (and Thor) are my top tier by quite a bit.

I also love the FF6 reference.

Well, you don't really play with Chaotic Evil that much, unless it's an all-Evil campaign. I would just generalize it to Chaotic = out to cause the party as much suffering as possible. In other words, Miko represents Lawful Stupid (treating Lawful Good as Lawful Lawfulness and not considering anything except whether you're following the law at any given moment) and Belkar is Chaotic Stupid (treating usually Chaotic Neutral as acting without any morality or rationality at all, and SOOOOOOOO RANDOM characters). So Miko represents a Lawful Neutral character pretending to be Lawful Good, while Belkar represents a Chaotic Evil or literally insane character pretending to be Chaotic Neutral.
