Does anyone have experience with warlocks/rogues? Deciding which of the two to boost, I have zero experience with either. I understand that they're the two least most popular classes for a reason, but they're the only ones I didn't get up to at least level 60 back when I played.
My friend's on the brink of getting me to resubscribe on emerald dream for this.
apparently 'countersmell' is not an allowed name in warcraft. i would already be playing if I could have that name. I made a free account and opened a GM ticket just to complain about this.
Achromatic posted... Oh, and if anyone would be interested in playing with me, red, and dara we are all in the same level 25 guild (read: it has a ton of cool perks including faster leveling, more profession stuff, better honor stuff, just nice stuff all around) and I'd like that mount.
That makes sense, although for some reason I thought I heard lock leveling had been nerfed (comparatively) since the BC days. And since I'm going to be boosted to 80, the leveling pain probably shouldn't go into my consideration :)
Inviso posted... My main is a level 85 Rogue. It's really fun, IMHO.
Good to hear, I suppose. Given that you think rogues are fun, and I know they're fun in pvp, does the class have a 'simple' dps spec? My impression of both warlocks and rogues was that their PvE rotations were pointlessly complicated. I wanna focus on the actual fight, not my own personal game of jump-rope.
Locks are considered to have one of the hardest rotations in the game, but rogues aren't overly complicated. I have an 85 rogue, but I only use him for PvP.

Rogues are the slower of the two classes to level, but locks are fun.
Rogues are quite simple in PvE, especially combat (you only lose something like 4% dps by not using rupture or revealing strike, so you can just sinister strike spam, keep up SnD and use Eviscerate). The fun part about rogues is utility in pve and pvp.
Locks are a lot more complicated. They're not amazingly hard, but can be hard to play optimally. A lot of fun though, if you're not having problems with the rotation.
I'd boost a rogue, personally. You'd be a lot more comfortable with a lock if you take the time to level it, and they level fast anyway. You can pick up rogue basics very quickly, so starting at 80 won't make you feel swamped with buttons and abilities.
Combat rotation SS up to 4 CP, RS, keep rupture and snd up at all times and eviserate otherwise
Mut rotation: Stealth open with garrote, put up SND, mutilate to 4 or 5 CP, rupture, then eviserate when u don't need to put rupture up. Always have rupture up.
Cool beans... I've always kinda wanted a lockbox bot. ;)
Nice to hear rogue rotations are simple (or is that just combat? is sub still a pain? how about assassination?) In my opinion the energy mechanic is a great idea (doesn't punish you for a little lag), but my experiences when my druid was a kitty sort of turned me off.
I'll probably end up boosting a rogue... plus my friend is playing horde-side, and I'd really like for my warlock (if I ever 'raise' one) to be a female dwarf with the awesome braids.
Just to add to Revenus' post; switch to backstab for mobs under 35% as assassination (though, it isn't possible for some bosses in Dragon Soul which is one of the reasons rogues tend to play Combat or Sub now).
Sub isn't too complicated either. Build combo points with Hemorrhage, Backstab (when possible) and Ambush (when possible). Ambush is better than Backstab, which is better than Hemorrhage (provided you have the Hermorrhage bleed up).
Priority of finishers to spend Combo Points on: SnD > Rupture > Recuperate > Eviscerate.
I'm miserable at WoW and I have the most fun with my warlock.
