there's the 'i'm buzzed', then the 'i'm buzzed but people who see me think i'm kinda drunk,' the 'i think i'm a little drunk so i'm definitely drunk,' the 'okay i am seriously drunk right now (where everyone can tell you are seriously drunk)', and the 'i am never doing that again' drunk.

the last one is the one you want to avoid.

I don't think I've ever gone past this stage tbqh. I've got like... this internal limiter that stops me from drinking further once I've had enough by making me tired. It's all good though. I'm kind of afraid if I go too far past that limit I'll vomit or blackout and I can't imagine being s***faced is so much better than being tipsy that it'd be worth it.

I didn't actually think I would get drunk tonight because I had too much last night. But then the realization that I might be homeless next week along with other issues made this bottle of Peachtree Schnapps look a lot more appealing.

You just gotta try it. It's different for everyone. As for me it makes me happier. But it is really difficult to explain. Don't drink too much, because it can easily get terrible. You just gotta drink enough so that you feel good/goofy but at the same time you're somewhat aware enough that you won't make a complete fool of yourself or do something really stupid.

god i envy you people with self control....for me it is either completely abstain, or drink myself into oblivion. very rarely do I manage the in between.

tonight is a 'completely abstain' for me. just not really in the mood to party today.

I think it's more about what you might have done or what you don't remember that makes you realize you need to limit your consumption. I for one don't like erasing an entire night of my life. I like being drunk, but when you've had too much it just ruins it. You have to learn what the correct level is for you so that you can both enjoy it and remember it the next day (and possibly negate some terrible hangovers as well).

To be fair, I only had an average number of hangovers...

combined with a few almost dyings (not involving trips to the hospital though, never had that happen)

even then, I still don't really limit myself. I have a blackout-drunk alter ego who is basically a substitute me for when the real me is blacked out from drinking too much. It's highly disturbing but surprisingly awesome and fun (It also explains about 85% of the posts I make that I don't remember making)

That's what I mean though. When you've had too much, you'll make a fool of yourself but probably not remember it. However if you know your limit, you can drink just enough that you'll have just as much fun without being a complete moron and you'll remember most of the good times.

Knowing my limit does not help me because when I am drunk any thoughts of limitations go out the window. Every time I am like 'alright I am only gonna drink a little' or a certain amount, it doesn't stick.
