Japanese people are not Team iLuminate and it is sort of upsetting that this video has gone viral and the japanese are getting credit for iLuminate's ideas I agree

I totally made this topic a few days ago, although it's purged now.

And the first response was someone talking about it being a rip-off of Team iLuminate.

To which I say, who the **** cares? Doesn't make it less awesome.

Besides, of all the performances by iLuminate that I could find, this was still better.

Furthermore, it's Japan. I'm sure they had this **** first.

Now I have not seen Team iLuminate, but this happens enough on the internet that I'm getting the picture that people are using "ripped off" to mean "inspired by" again.

Because cool light-up suit effects like that should not be something only one dance group is ever allowed to do. If parts of the performance are lifted directly from the other group though, then yeah, that's a problem. But if it's just because they're using light up suits to create illusions like people teleporting and such, then that's not "ripping off."

I'm not really upset that they're using the technology, but that people are mistakenly giving credit where it isn't due. It's a weird thing, since they probably don't know where the credit is due in the first place, but meh.

If this catches on and there becomes a ton of groups like this awesome. But in the mean time iLuminate should be getting credit 100%

Because they're presumably performing their own act.

Although this is a rather bad analogy to bring up in the first place since, to my understanding, the Blue Man Group being blue doesn't actually affect their performances at all where as there's actual potential to be had to dancing in lightsuits.

This is like calling Terraria a rip-off of Minecraft. Or like calling any platform video game a rip-off of Super Mario Bros.
