Doesn't Google Suggest use things like your previous searches and your location now? Could have sworn it does now.

Anyway, Steve Irwin does not appear at all in the search bar in Firefox nor on the Google home page.

Yeah, although it's possible to "turn it off" in the settings, or to actually turn it off with the use of browser plug-ins like Disconnect.
