i can't think of a more fitting way for that guy to have died

it takes a lot to make me root for skylar, but ted managed it.

I rooted for Skylar too during that whole thing. But that scene completely validated Ted's existence. BB is such a brilliant show.

I gotta admit, I for the most part get where Skyler in coming from. I mean, she is married to a drug dealer who is disappearing all the time.

It's more noticeable on a rewatch, when I don't really think of Walt as a protagonist any more >_>

Skyler is an annoying character, but I'd hope the average watcher (at least on B8, which I generally give a lot of credit in the smarts department) can at least understand where she's coming from.

Anyone who doesn't understand where she's coming from really doesn't know how dangerous it is to make money selling drugs.

walter white knows everything from chemicals to making bombs in a kitchen to poisonous herbs, and he sees through all of gus's plans.

but he needs some time to figure out when saul's secretary chick is blackmailing him for more cash.

I had assumed he died there but I expected some follow up to confirm and that never happened

Also, I remember watching the season 4 finale and being all holy f*** O_O at the end. I had seen that the episode was called Face Off before I watched it. Hours after watching it, I literally burst out laughing while in the car with a coworker, as the brilliance of that title had just occurred to me.

and i was wondering why he was staring at that plant in the 12th episode

i just wasn't ready to accept the full on heel turn from Walt

I dunno if I would call it a heel turn

He already learned (accidentally) how powerfully he could control Jesse by killing his loved ones with Jane, and then he ramped up by indirectly killing Gale. It was only natural for him to directly kill an innocent this time.

oh I guess Brock didn't die... man, I need to rewatch that season. But still, it was definitely possible for the kid to die, so Walt was prepared to kill the kid.

ths first case with Jane wasn't entirely his fault and it was just him choosing to do nothing, the second one with Gale was an immediate life-or-death situation that also had Jesse's life at stake

but the latest one with Brock was an active decision that put a kid in danger who had no connection to the drug game they were involved in

the first two were morally questionable but that last one was just evil

I'm just saying that they built Walt up to be an 'anything goes' kinda guy. I definitely didn't expect Walt to poison Brock, and when I realized that he did, I didn't really believe it, because it seemed out of character, so I see where you're coming from. But looking back, it seems like a "natural" progression.

Like at this point, he would probably kill his family to "win" even more, even though they were the original reason for everything.

yeah, it was a natural progression and i'm actually thinking that his entire family dying because of him will be the final proverbial nail in his morality coffin

just wasn't expecting that he'd actually stoop that low in reference to the brock poisoning

but that is the mark of good storytelling and character development - inevitable but not predictable

Well I would assume Walt was familiar enough with the poison to know it wouldn't be fatal at the dosage he did. He had to do it to frame Gus and make Jesse want Gus dead too

the jane issue was walt's fault because walt knocked her onto her back - she mentioned explicitly that they had to sleep on their sides - it was manslaughter when he did that, except he had the chance to save her and then didn't

letting the situation escalate to where walt had to kill gale was also walt's (and jesse's) fault
