And sorry, I am never assuming Squall or Tidus will get saved by someone else eventually. That's just begging for disaster. My goal for this contest has been plainly stated from the beginning, and I work toward that end first and foremost, which includes taking care of my own business and not expecting someone else to, especially considering Squall has narrowly avoided elimination in a couple rounds I missed.

I think it's more about Leonhart claiming to be the general for FFX than with him saving Squall first.

Squall/Tidus finals good idea, make sure amy gets the memo for it.

Unless it was authorized and agreed upon I agree. I don't trade for characters on that "do not win" list from earlier, and to end up helping them would make me very unlikely to trade with someone who did that again.

hey, when i woke up Kefka wasn't safe and it got me another save by waiting... though it ended up kinda useless as Yuffie and Jecht were pretty much tied in priority for me

1) Braska
This beacon of manliness couldn't be contained by his robe. Set the ground work for liberating the world!

2) Bartholomew Estheim
Hope is a man's castle eh? Well if that's true, his dad's house must be the **** right?

3) Cid (FFX)
This macho man flies his airship near huge dragons and doesn't afraid of anything.

4) Strago Magus
Continued to live to a ripe old age despite being related to Relm. What a man.

5) Grimoire Valentine
This manly man shielded a woman (and annoying character) from death, giving his own life in exchange. Unfortunately it caused his son to spend most of his life in a coffin and deny him of lovin', but hey dads aren't perfect.

I literally just said bottom ten is the time to abandon all ye hope. Selective reading doesn't look good on ya btw. ;) If Squall had been in the bottom 11, or 10, or Yevon forbid 9 and you saved him, I would take no issue with any of this and we wouldn't be having this conversation now. But you didn't do that. You jumped the gun and saved him when there were still well over 20 characters left, likely under the misguided assumption that you would get another save. And of course you didn't. You failed. You claim to want a Squall/Tidus final, but you're doing next to nothing to further it and you're complaining that I failed my troops when in reality I've only made them stronger. I mean I suppose I could have saved Jecht and risked ending your Squall/Tidus final right then and there, but I'm sure you would have whined even more about that...

In short, I really don't know what you wanted me to do, Leo. As standing VIII General, what would you have done in my position? Save Jecht and leave Tidus to die? Have faith that someone else would step in? The last two times I had faith in someone else to save X characters, Wakka and Gippal were ousted so you can see why I'd rather not do that again. By all means, tell me what I should've done. I'm eager to hear some actually constructive criticism.

Assuming I assumed I would get another save is a misguided assumption in and of itself. I saved Squall because I wasn't expecting to get another one and I wasn't going to be able to hang around the whole time.

As for the Tidus/Jecht thing, think outside the box. Offer to owe a save to someone next round to save Tidus so you can save Jecht. Someone who had no rooting interest among the remaining characters may have helped. Just make your intentions known up front. That's what I did the other day. I made it known I wanted to save both Jecht and Balthier, and I hoped someone else did, too, and sure enough, it worked out.

That's a really terrible plan. Like, really god awful. First of all, next-round trades are a last-ditch effort you would use on a favorite and only a favorite. Like, I know you said trade for Tidus- a favorite, but the reality of that situation would be trying to keep both Tidus and Jecht alive and to tell the truth Jecht was only my fourth favorite X character left. I've only been prioritizing him because he was the weakest left that I actually liked. Second of all, having one less save the following round would mean putting Tidus in jeopardy if I had to trade for him yet again. A: I don't like being in debt round after round, potentially or otherwise B: I'd only be prolonging his inevitable elimination anyway- probably the very next round since I'd have one less save to trade- so why bother to go through all that trouble for a midcarder anyway?

Just make your intentions known up front. That's what I did the other day. I made it known I wanted to save both Jecht and Balthier, and I hoped someone else did, too, and sure enough, it worked out.

Now that actually could've worked. I suppose I should have tried that instead. Thanks Leo. Duly noted.
