I'm doing Computer Science in University with hopes to one day be a video game programmer. Wanting to be a programmer, we've naturally been doing a lot of programming! The thing I like about programming (In Python, the language we're currently using at least), is that it always tells you when you're wrong, and there's so many resources you can consult / compile / modify to make the best code. Whenever anything comes together properly, especially more complicated programs you get a sort of "YEAH, I DID THAT." feeling.
Anyways, we've been using Python lately and for today's lab we were being tested on our drawing abilities with the language. So I made a zombie being shot in the head. It was fun, and I got 100 for it! YAY FINDING ENJOYMENT IN MY UNIVERSITY STUDIES. -- XBL: Mik Pick PSN: Mik2Pick ... Copied to Clipboard!

I kinda wish I did more programming.
I took a Visual Basic class in High School and it was pretty damn awesome. -- http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr345/Rakaputra/pjbasis.png SuperNiceDog - 1, pjbasis - 0 ... Copied to Clipboard!

From: Mik_Pick | Posted: 3/28/2012 6:09:01 PM | #001 I remember when I was like you (Which year are you?) but uh hey good luck. My CS classes focus more on the algorithms, data structures, and problem solving rather than how to use a specific language, though <_< -- http://img.imgcake.com/RegaroUlquiorrapngse.png http://img.imgcake.com/regthatchertabletpngyd.png ... From: _Regaro_ | #004 I'm first year. This particular course was the stuff you mentioned in your post for the first half of the term, and Python in the second half. I'm doing a couple of programming courses first to make sure I enjoy it before I get too invested, but yeah next year I'm going to be doing more courses focusing on other branches of CS to fill out the requirements for my degree. I find that stuff interesting too anyways, but I do prefer programming! Also, forgot to note the zombie was wearing a top hat. -- XBL: Mik Pick PSN: Mik2Pick ... Copied to Clipboard!

You shouldn't count on getting into the video game industry. It's extremely competitive, and a lot of companies will treat their employees like s*** because they're "doing them a favor by letting them work on video games."
That said, if you would be okay with a generic software development job a CS degree is probably one of best degrees as far as being employable goes. -- No I'm not a damn furry. Looney Tunes are different. - Guiga I wanted Sonic/Shadow romance at that time, not sex. - MWE ... Copied to Clipboard!

You really won't ever quit programming as you work towards a CS degree. Ultimately, that's what ties everything you learn in any good CS program together.
But the classes I'm taking now are a lot more theory than programming, to be certain. -- http://img.imgcake.com/RegaroUlquiorrapngse.png http://img.imgcake.com/regthatchertabletpngyd.png ... Copied to Clipboard!

From: LordoftheMorons | #006 Yeah, for the reason you mentioned, and in case something else in the field comes up, that's why I'm doing a CS degree and not a stupid game design / development / whatever degree. The way I see it, if I get the degree and am able to get a job in games, great. If I finish the degree and don't want / can't get a job in games, still great, there are plenty of other things I can do with it. -- XBL: Mik Pick PSN: Mik2Pick ... Copied to Clipboard!
