When I read this sort of thing, I wonder what it's supposed to mean.

It means I don't see her as exceptionally attractive enough to make it this far into the contest.

I think a lot of people get that famous hot chicks in photshoots and stuff aren't necessarily hotter than various hot chicks we'll see in our real life.

I hope everybody gets that...

But... is this supposed to be a bad thing?

No one said it was.

Hot is hot, I'd say Brie is hot, yes I've met hotter women I'd say, ha well, we're all just living in a world where lots of people are hot.

I agree, but for the later rounds of the contest I'm hoping for women that are at least as attractive as the most attractive women I personally know, not less so.

Most of my favs went out fairly long ago, and at random times, I personally don't really equate how long anyone lasts with how hot they are, just how broad their appeal is.

Of course it's all subjective, but I don't necessarily expect the B8 babes champ to be hotter than chicks I know, that's the beauty of it, there really are just an endless amount of beauties out there.

You're assuming I wouldn't have thought she was hot at all.

I'm not assuming anything, I'm going by your statement that you didn't think she was as hot as to vote her over Campo. But now she seems -so much hotter- that she did. Man, many of those were probably the exact same pictures.

That's your interpretation. Plenty of women "act cute." Doesn't commonly change my opinion of them.

Sure is. Sure do. Which means it sometimes might.

It means I don't see her as exceptionally attractive enough to make it this far into the contest.

How long a babe lasts in the contest is not directly indicative of strength - I mentioned this earlier. Brie made the final four, sure, but the stats are a superior indicator. After Boufhal doubles her, she won't be top four in stats.

relatively to the rest of the babes in the contest, she's nothing special.

This is just opinion. I find her more attractive than the vast majority of the babes in the contest because of her slender figure and feminine facial features. That puts her above all the bigger, curvier women and the manjaws for me.

Shrug. You're right, of course.

Mmmm, I guess I shouldn't either. I mean... I guess I can't anymore!

I see. Well that just shows more clearly it's all subjective, right? Again, it's just that the results were going so well, lol... I thought somehow the contest would reflect my tastes better now, silly me. Sorry for ranting.

Personally, pale, whatever, any skin color is hot on my list, ha again I go by "Daredevil" rules, really hot is about touch. Since that's how I look at things, well, I don't really understand what it is about a chick having a light skin color that is unattractive to someone.

I like fairly pale skin myself actually, but the thing is that a lot of the pictures of Brie that show up on board 8 aren't just a matter of pale skin (she's not excessively pale in general from when I've seen video clips of her), it's the lighting or make up done to excess until she looks like a damn zombie, skin whiter than milk and rather gaunt, not good or even healthy looking (gives less of a "hey you're hot" vibe than a "hey do you have cancer?" one). She's attractive, but if you only went with some of the pictures that I see b8 users posting the most, you could easily be forgiven for not thinking she was good looking at all.

Gonna be some lopsided stats from that one. A quick tally of the increased votals shows about 14 votes for Brie and 8 for Boufhal from people that have never or basically have never voted in any of the previous rounds. In other words, if this wasn't one of the last matches, Boufhal would be 60-40'ing Brie.

I don't have stats on who voted how in a given match but I usually verify the results manually so I'm used to seeing certain names over and over again. Slightly under half of the people I didn't recognize, although several had begun to vote either at the semi's or somewhere during the quarters, which would be "basically never."

And if there was a rule against that I wouldn't have done it. :)

But honestly, if you assume everyone with a post in that topic wouldn't have voted otherwise (besides me), it's a 2 vote swing (3-1). If you only count people that didn't vote in the previous match, it's 0 (1-1).

The big difference is the fact I kept the match on the front page all day long. I had a very boring day at work.

I'm not accusing you of anything. That probably sounded like I was, so sorry.

I was just pointing it out. As you said there was absolutely nothing wrong with what you did. and I haven't looked to see if anyone there was actually voting so you are probably right. Just seemed like a crazy coincidence.

But I guess the fact that so many B8ers (including myself) have gotten into Community recently probably helps as well.

Interesting trends I got bored and mapped out that are certainly meaningless:

If you discount everyone who voted today who didn't vote in either semi-final match, the score becomes 20-19 Brie.
If you also discount people who voted in only 1 semi-final (but leave in a few I know voted many times), it's something along the lines of 17-16 Kiebler (that one might be off, I didn't finish going through those).

If you go back to Brie/Boufhal and toss out the people who didn't show back up today, that match becomes 19-19 (when you factor in Natwaf's voiced abstention).

Anyways, congrats to Kiebler.

You can view how the stats ended up here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkdkZG0vLS_SdHVtOHRQbDVOT2VKQlFkNWdJekRMd0E

3rd tab is post-R8. I'll quickly profile the babes at the top:

1. Stacy Keibler (50.00)

USA
Model, Wrestler
Defeat: N/A
2011: 42.00

external image

B8's collective favorite takes the crown! Despite the tie, consensus appears to be that Boufhal would have performed better against Stacy. There's always next year... Stacy lost in the championship last year and also won in 2009.

2. Jayde Nicole (48.39)

Canada
Model
Defeat: R1, Stacy Keibler
2011: N/A

external image

Remember her? Jayde lost by one vote to Stacy in the first round. Jayde was playmate of the year in 2008, following Sara Jean Underwood, who I regret to say will not appear on the lineup this year.

3. Alison Brie (44.26)

USA
Actress
Defeat: R8, Stacy Keibler
2011: 29.03

external image

Well, I voted for her based on appearance but it sounds like her performances and body of work went the extra mile. Someone else can explain that better than me.

4. Francoise Boufhal (44.26)

UK
Model
Defeat: R7, Alison Brie
2011: N/A

external image

Another explosive newcomer joins the ranks of the high stat, high bust size competitors. I'll probably never vote for her, but I'm curious to see how she performs in the future.

5. Jordana Brewster (42.34)

Panama
Actress
Defeat: R1, Alison Brie
2011: N/A

external image

Panama... WELL THEN. Face reminds me of Demi Moore a bit. In any case, she's part of the stat-inflated [C] bracket on account of Brie's improbable run.

6. Emmy Rossum (40.57)

USA
Actor, Singer
Defeat: R3, Alison Brie
2011: 17.50

external image

Underrated last year, but part of the overrated [C] bracket this year. In any case, she's super-cute, though it's tough to find quality pictures of her.

7. Kelly Brook (40.54)

UK
Model
Defeat: R7, Stacy Keibler
2011: 37.33

external image

Many of 2011's faves took a hit this year but Kelly Brook wasn't among them. That being said, Kelly lost to Keibler last year as well, but with a better result.

8. Louise Cliffe (40.54)

UK
Model
Defeat: R6, Kelly Brook
2011: N/A

external image

Newcomer of the year imo. Cliffe crushed several opponents in convincing fashion before tying Brook in the division finals.

9. Kayleigh Pearson (40)

UK
Model
Defeat: R4, Stacy Keibler
2011: 37.72

external image

Let me guess ... a lot of you guys are from the UK? Pearson, another UK perennial, loses to Keibler but survives the gauntlet as far as the stats are concerned.

10. Misa Campo (39.34)

Canada
Model
Defeat: R6, Alison Brie
2011: 34.13

external image

The first Asian ... well, half at least. (Her mother is Filipino.) Campo made the final four in 2009 and won in 2008.

Good contest, even though I missed almost all of it. Cheers.

kevwaffles posted...
Really don't get the vehement hatred some of you seem to display for Brie.

"Vehement hatred" is pretty strong. I like Brie, and I doubt anyone else who was baffled by her dominance in this contest (sans maybe Ayvuir) considers her unattractive, but when so many users here consider her to be unbelievably hot, to the point where Monica freakin' Bellucci is the underdog in a match with her in a babes contest, I just have to tilt my head and say, "Really?" It's not that I see imperfections, like Ingmar suggested. It's that I'm not seeing what makes her that much of a babe.

Like, you know when you play a video game and think it's pretty good, and then you hear a bunch of people call it the greatest experience they've ever had in their entire lives? You can't blame a guy for being a little confused.

Oh hell I just compared a woman to a video game oh god I'm leaving now

11. Nicole Pisarri (38.4)

USA
Model
Defeat: R3, Kayleigh Pearson
2011: N/A

external image

Pisarri returns after missing 2011 and her name was even spelled correctly!

12. Miranda Kerr (37.99)

Australia
Model
Defeat: R3, Misa Campo
2011: 23.00

external image

Not too many aussies in the contest, especially after Nicky Whelan failed to appear. In any case, Kerr gave the former champ Campo a run for her money in R3 in a match decided by one vote.

13. Minka Kelly (37.77)

USA
Actress
Defeat: R2, Misa Campo
2011: 29.96

external image

The bracket didn't align for Minka but she also loses to Campo by one and finds a respectable home in the x-stats.

14. Maria Ozawa (37.19)

Japan
AV Idol
Defeat: R2, Emmy Rossum
2011: 14.31

external image

At one point, Maria was Japan's highest paid porn star. She's actually only half-Japanese - her father is Canadian.

15. Lucy Pinder (36.67)

UK
Model
Defeat: R5, Stacy Keibler
2011: 33.16

external image

Needs no introduction, I trust. Along with Brook, Pinder did worse in a direct rematch against Keibler than in 2011, but since Keibler went up, so does she.

16. Monica Bellucci (36.07)

Italy
Actress
Defeat: R4, Alison Brie
2011: 15.49

external image

The VENERABLE Monica Bellucci gets a leg up in the [C] bracket scuffle and ends up with one of the top spots.

17. Iga Wyrwal (36.04)

Poland
Model
Defeat: R4, Kelly Brook
2011: 18.07

external image

Must be the Polish Kayleigh Pearson. She improved greatly from 2011, although to be fair she was stuck behind Olivia Wilde, who somehow escaped from her division and was subsequently demolished by Keibler.

18. Jaime Edmondson (35.41)

USA
Cheerleader, Model
Defeat: R6, Francosie Boufhal
2011: 43.75

external image

Nobody had more narrow margin victories than Edmondson this year. Then she emerged from her division to double Giorgia Palmas and continue to the bracket finals.

19. Diora Baird (35.2)

USA
Actress, Model
Defeat: R4, Lucy Pinder
2011: 18.38

http://static-flisted.s3.amazonaws.com/files/2009/04/diora-baird-kelly-brook-megan-fox-courtney-love-kim-kardashian-kourtney-kardashian-mila-kunis-anglina-jolie-britney-spears-sienna-miller-brad-pitt-sex-naked-nude-topless-beyonce-breasts5.jpg?w=420

That is one heck of a filename. Also you cannot get a six pack in six weeks. I have tried.

20. Rosie Jones (34.21)

UK
Model
Defeat: R5, Misa Campo
2011: N/A

external image

Rosie Jones (born November 13, 1959) is an American professional golfer, with 13 LPGA Tour career victories and nearly $8.4 million in tournament earn-- OWAIT. One day wikipedia search will learn what men actually care about and prioritize accordingly.

Quite a few newcomers in the lineup, amounting to 8 out of the top 30. (Grindemyr and Pisarri were around earlier; they just missed 2011.)

Ok wait i obviously didnt follow 2011 at all when i didnt run it and was in Oz.

I thought Keeley Hazell won it, but ive just found the top and bottom half brackets and the winners of each were Leah Dizon and Maria Ozawa, so did one of them win it?

Also, I have just thought of a cracking spin off idea which shouldnt take that long to do if people aren't completely burnt out of Babes Contest action?

A Babes Contest WORLD CUP!

You can nominate up to 5 countries, and nominate a team of 3 girls for each country. Country/Girls with the highest nominations go in to a 16 team World Cup. 4 Groups of 4 and then knock out stages with top 2 from each group qualifying.

God I am a GENIOUS.

If people are keen on that idea I'll start it up toorrow or something

Well, I voted for her based on appearance but it sounds like her performances and body of work went the extra mile. Someone else can explain that better than me.

Simply put, I think she looks better than she does in the photos that usually show up each match. Not that Ayvuir is cherry-picking, I just think a lot of her photoshoots (especially the earlier ones) aren't spectacular.

The only one that does her justice is the black and white one (which does have a color version, but it's harder to find). Oddly, the one you just used in particular is one of my least favorite ones.

Hazell won last year over Keibler in the finals. You can find the bottom and top half linked from the spreadsheet. Dizon and Ozawa are there too. I'm not sure which brackets you found. Ozawa went against Pisarri in the final four in 2009?

152. Underwood, Sara Jean 14.1639344262295

RIP SJU.

60. Yejin, Son 25.8196721311475
61. Taeyeon, Kim 25.5803497998794
63. Nishida, Mai 25.2252252252252
65. Wong, Ellen 24.968474148802
67. Oshiro, Miwa 24.8070084135658
68. So, KT 24.7089569969114

Clump of Asians! Few of them do well, it seems, but they tend to score all right.

B8's collective favorite takes the crown! Despite the tie, consensus appears to be that Boufhal would have performed better against Stacy. There's always next year... Stacy lost in the championship last year and also won in 2009.

I'm not sure how much better she would have done today, as newcomers seemed to favor Brie over her as you pointed out yesterday, and they also seem to favor Kiebler above Brie. 2 rounds ago she probably could have beaten Kiebler outright, though.

I'm not really down with that world cup myself, since the Japanese babes typically don't do as well as I'd like in these, and bringing nationality/race as such a big part of it just doesn't seem like it has much of a point. Well, I'm not on board with this cup thing. Or, you could just skip to USA versus England.

Ohhh yeah two of my favs. Though Belgium and Japan probably wouldn't get too far in the world cup here, ha especially Belgium. Yeah that's a weird idea.

But hey, the babes contest was fun as always this year, babetastic.

Haha, World Cup. Sounds fun. I think the main points to determine are:

- How many babes on the final team.
- How to determine nationality.

Birthplace might be the best option, it's tricky to pin down some, for example Leah Dizon who was born in the U.S., moved to Japan later, mother is French, father is Filipino / Chinese.

I like the idea in theory, but this sounds really annoying to manage for your sake.

It also sounds like an idea for a much larger voting base.

Well basically the 3 highest babes nominated for a specific country will get in to the team. Teams will consist of only 3 babes.

Those 3 babes will be ranked in their order via nominations and then face off against other countries within their groups on an individual bases. So topped nommed/ranked babe from Country A plays top nommed/ranked babe from country B. second plays second, thir ranked plays thirs ranked. So the match will be determined by those 3 matches. Therefore there can be no draws, a team can either win 2-1 or 3-0.

To qualify for a certain country the babe merely has to be BORN within that country. So Jordana Brewster would only be eligible for Panama, for example.
