Just finished a Toonami inspired re-watch. That this show didn't get a second season is criminal. However, it also might be a good thing. They probably could've f***ed a lot up with more seasons. As is though, it's nearly perfect. The action, voice acting, music (especially), and all the concepts and backstory were top notch.
It probably doesn't get close to BeBop but it definitely leaps over Trigun by quite a bit, though I will have to re-watch that at some point too.

That said, I'm not sure how the show would continue. Unlike Western TV shows, a lot anime and shows in Japan are intended to only be on for the duration they are. Outlaw Star seemed to pretty much wrap things up tightly IMHO and I honestly don't know where they could go after the mindtrip of the final episodes.

I really don't remember much about Outlaw Star outside of the beautiful Akino Arai endings. I should probably give it another watch someday, being one of the earliest anime I saw.
