I'm surprised that it was actually good. Most deaths were pretty lame, but the thing I liked about the movie was how they made it work as a prequel, and how they tied it to the first movie.

But one thing bugs me about the movie. The creepy coroner dude tells them he's seen what's happening to the survivors before, but this is technically the first movie in the timeline.

It leaves the storyline open so they can do even more prequels. Imagine a Final Destination movie set in the 1800s.

I wasn't really impressed by the deaths either (especially the kid with the glasses. No way a tiny buddha statue could do that), but overall I thought it was pretty good. Definitely better than the 4th, and it had David Koechner. I didn't exactly see that twist at the end coming, but the fact that Paris was emphasized had me thinking "oh snap they went to Paris in the first one. Interesting..." but I never saw the prequel coming (maybe if they had used time-period-accurate cellphones I would've figured it out >_>)

but yeah Inviso makes a good point. Keeps things open for the series, and I for one will certainly continue to watch them no matter how bad they're expected to be

I actually made the connection during the movie, and thought it was cool.

But I just thought it was another reference to past movies, like the truck with the logs, and the rollercoaster picture.

And the third. They practically crapped out 3 and 4 with little-to-no effort. 1 > 5 > 2 > a pile of crap > 3 >>>>>>>>>>> 4

3rd definitely a better efforr than 4th

and I (after 2nd) predicted that the 3rd should take place at an amusment park (thought I meant in general, not exclusively on a roller coaster)

and after the 3rd, I predicted the 4th should take place in a sports stadium (not specifically a race and probably not a race)

between 4 and 5, I got nothing of a bridge

2 > 1 > 5 > 3 > 4

However, it's been years since I've seen the first one.
