I thought "Tigers in the Snow" but that doesn't seem to be it.
The main character is a teenage boy who has an irrational fear of tigers. It's winter, and he's walking through a blizzard. He's afraid a Siberian tiger will attack him. He reaches home, and there's a tiger in his room.
