Third Round! The field is thinning significantly! Thirty-two of the most prominent Song of Ice and Fire characters are left! Who is the best character GRRM has ever created?! The most votes per round wins and moves on in this bracket style competition. The contest will continue until the most popular character in Westeros is crowned!!!
This contest can be found on 2 different boards, but only one vote per user will be accepted. The two boards are: Books and Literature and Gamefaqs Contests. Any suspicious votes will be discounted. Each character will be supplied with a link to Wiki Song of Ice and Fire that briefly describes them and their accomplishments throughout the series. Theres a lot of characters in this series, my hope is that these links will remind users who did what and when.
If there are any further questions please feel free to ask and I will be happy to answer!!
~ Welp. That round was a tragedy. The Dog slays the Dragon and the Bear topples the Child of the Forest. Can't get much worse results than those. Disgusting. ~ I love Jorah and Sandor btw. If anything besides disappointing, these results offer a bit of spice to a contest that seemed like it was heading for a chalk finish line. ~ Tywin makes short work of Victarion. This result was very good. ~ Sandor/Tywin and Ned/Jorah set up for next round. This part of the bracket has been not only cracked, but also cooked over easy.
~ I'm tracking some potential alt accounts. Most all of them are on Books and Literature. I counted them this time because either way would not have affected the results. But discounting them in the future is something I'm willing to do. ~
(1)Jaime Lannister (as much as I do love Barristan the BAMF) (5)Joffrey Baratheon (better villain and more interesting to read about than Samwell "wahhhh I'm a coward, here comes my fat pink mast") (3)Stannis Baratheon (Jaqen rocks, but Stannis is a great character) (2)Arya Stark (Stark SFF)

Strongly disagree!

(1)Jaime Lannister - No questions there. Barristan is very good, but Jaime is a top 3 character. His character development is astounding and is rivalled (and possibly exceeded) only by Theon Greyjoy. (5)Joffrey Baratheon - Sam is, as always, very bland. Joffrey's a *****, yes, but a glorious one, and just such an effective villain. (3)Stannis Baratheon - Jaqen is about on par with Syrio in my books. Stannis, on the other hand, is absolutely fascinating, and strangely endearing. He wins. (2)Arya Stark - Both are strong characters, so like Robert/Ned, this one comes down to personal preference.
- Glad my earlier Hound > Dany prediction was correct. The Hound should be able to beat Tywin relatively comfortably (28-12 sounds about right); Ned should trounce Jorah. I think Ned has it in him to beat the Hound and win the division, but that match will be close.
- This division, on the other hand, is pretty cookie-cutter until the finals, IMO. Still have no idea how Jaime/Arya will play out.

Jaqen literally equals Syrio imo.

I don't think Arya will make it that far. If she wins this match she will be one of three girls in the sweet sixteen. Sansa has Cersei next so we're guaranteed a girl in the top 8, thankfully. I believe she'll get her comeuppance with Robb here or Stannis next round.
Then again, there are a LOT of strong women in Westeros. However, I think Arya is the strongest one of them all, and it's not even close. So she might just make it that far.

Most of the top 5 favourite characters lists I've seen include Tyrion, Jaime and Arya, so I *do* think she'll be able to make it to Jaime, at the very least. Robb has yet to receive a single vote, and Stannis is struggling a bit against Jaqen.
I also think whoever wins this division makes it to the finals before losing to Tyrion, but I'm a bit less confident in that prediction.

(1)Jaime Lannister (maybe biased here, Jaime is a very good character, but I love Barristan soooo much) (5)Joffrey Baratheon (3)Stannis Baratheon (2)Arya Stark (die, Robb!)
(8)Barristan Selmy - Jaime's better, but I'm throwing Barristan a sympathy vote since he's gonna lose anyway. (5)Joffrey Baratheon - Samwell's a great character who I don't fully understand why some people dislike, but Joffrey's a perfect villain pretty much. I didn't know it was possible to hate a child so much! Especially after (well, during) Jack Gleeson's excellent portrayal. (3)Stannis Baratheon - Jaqen's fun and all, but Stannis is a brilliant character, I love how realistic he is, yet utterly atypical for this kind of world. (2)Arya Stark - Sorry Robb, tough draw for you.
Not sure what's so disgusting about Dany and Bran losing, junk_funk? People like to put the characters' POV chapters onto the characters themselves, and while Dany's an awesome character throughout her plot is possibly the most meandering thing in the world, particularly in books 2 and 5; meanwhile, Bran is a stereotypical fantasy child, and given one of the best parts of the books is how realistic the characters feel for the most part, he seems almost like he belongs in a different story a lot of the time.

Do you think cats are clever? They don't hold a candle to dogs and SuperNiceDog is the cream of the crop since he won the Guru contest without breaking a sweat.
(8)Barristan Selmy (Jaime is better but Barristan deserves more than 1 vote) (4)Samwell Tarly (3)Stannis Baratheon (7)Robb Stark
Tough day.

Those might be my favorite results of the whole contest ^_^

(1)Jaime Lannister - Tough one. I like Barristan well enough, but since Jaime's been a POV character for longer as well as having a greater presence and importance story-wise, I'll give the vote to him. (5)Joffrey Baratheon - As much as I can sympathize with Sam, Joffrey's too much of a villain to deny him the vote. (3)Stannis Baratheon - Stannis is tied with Davos for one of my top ten characters and as much of a badass Jaqen is, he still doesn't match up. (2)Arya Stark - Robb may have been a sympathetic and likeable character (Seriously, **** the Freys) but there's not much depth to his character whereas Arya's been through one hell of a journey. She's also a top 3 character for me.
