I remember reading a deadspin article about how assists are a complete joke statistic. They're tracked by the home team who usually employs like a college intern to count them. The guy talked about how one night he just decided "**** it, our guy is getting 15 assists tonight" and was able to make it happen.

It's not that much Rondo's fault - KG and Bass were terrible from the field (KG's 4th excepted), and Rondo was getting them open looks early. They just didn't fall.

The fact is, they outshot us by 13%, had more FT attempts and far fewer fouls, and won by 7.

I honestly don't think they stand that much of a chance in the Garden on Saturday.

rondo's effort in running the offense dropped noticeably in the second half though. in the first half we can chalk it up to godawful shooting by kg and bass but we should have expected more of rondo attacking the basket in the second.

and again, philly was not only able to execute in the half court - which i admit begrudgingly - but was also able to hit tons of really really bad shots - pullup shots, heavily contested shots, iso fallaways, etc - which absolutely sets their crowd on fire and ignites their half-court teamwork game

silver lining this game is pierce i guess, but with only one leg he was not going to produce 36 points, and as great as he is at it, you can't win a game just by shooting free throws.

Just like most years, almost every playoff team is worthless.

If you really want to count the expired Lakers, there's 5 teams out of 16 that entered the playoffs mattering.

One immediately got crippled and eliminated by injury, one doesn't have any worthwhile opponents until the final, and the other two are playing each other to get to the final.


Of course the Bulls wouldn't have beaten the Heat anyway. An injured Bosh might barely have been enough to give them the edge though.
