to be fair, he wrote the overall story of the buffy season eight comics (dunno if they have made past that or what his involvement is), and certain issues, which is pretty much equivalent of his work on his tv shows.

They are on Season 9 now. So presumably that means the season 8 story was completed.

Season 8 ended at 40 issues, and was kinda meh. Season 9 is kidna made up of both Buffy season 9 and new series Angel & Faith, with a couple minis in the works. S9 and A&F are both set to be 25 issues long, with the minis coming in at 4 each.
Season 9 got off to a much better start than expected after what 8 dove into, though a couple plot twists later I'm wondering where the heck they're taking it. '_'
EDIT: Saying "made up of" is probably a bit strong, since so far there's been basically no crossover plot-wise (aside from the things that are leftover from the end of S8).
From: CycloRaptor | #056 is the stuff from angel: after the fall considered canon in those comics?
Inconclusive, in that it's never been brought up. Angel's introduction to the current story doesn't seem to mesh with either the end of AtF or the IDW series as a whole, which would lean toward disregarding them. But Spike's current situation does fit with the IDW comics, so that leans toward keeping them.
I was under the impression that AtF is canon while everything after it is a little hazy. They've said that they may eventually get around to introducing some of the Angel characters into the current comics. I mean, people like Connor and Illyria are kind of important.

I'm going by what we've actually seen so far. I think we'll get a better idea of how much is canon once *spoilers in message detail*
