seriously, how did they manage to make someone worse than Vayne

Sephiroth is definitely the best villain in the series just speaking on how well he's written as a villain. I could see not liking him for reasons based on his character, but FF7 is the best at making their villain really have a good presence over the game throughout the game.

Kefka is a close second. Golbez would also be up there but lol. X-Death has it but takes a while to get there. Kuja has presence but is kinda like Revolver Ocelotesque most of the time. Seymour would be decent just for his creepiness and persistence but lol again. The rest are totally bad as villains.

Lopen pretty much knows what's up. There are a couple of Square games with better villains than Sephiroth but there are no better FFs for it.

Legitimately not liking it isn't a real discernible reason? I don't hate everything from it either. I like Yuffie, Barret and Cid. Red XIII, Reno and Rude are ok too. I just don't like/care about the other characters or the story.

you have not yet realized the very real, very true secret conspiracy of FF6... you thought FF3 and FF6 was just it?

In 1997 we had FF7. the FF1 of the FF7 series.
In 2004 we had the first sequel, Before Crisis, the FF2 of the FF7 series.
In 2005 we had the second, FF7 Snowboarding. yes, it's a real game. it's also, in some ways appropiately, FF3 of the FF7.
In 2006 we had Dirge of Cerberus, the FF4 of the FF7 series, and second game we got stateside. wait, second game? that's right Dante - while in Japan this was FF4 of the FF7 series, in the US this was FF2 of the FF7 series. just like the main series.
Later that year FF5 of the FF7 series came out, Dirge of Cerberus Lost Episodes. and just like FF5 was, a Japan only release.
so then... what game was FF6?
Crisis Core.
Crisis Core is the FF6 of FF7 in Japan and the FF3 of the FF7 series in the US. EXACTLY like the main series is.


don't be fooled yet Dante - Zack is from FF6. and the scary part is that he's not the only one. don't forget that his main enemy and rival is Sephiroth, with this game being every bit about him as well. Sephiroth is from FF6 too. is he only from there? no, but that shouldn't matter. the point is he's there and in a big way.

if FF6 is FF3 in the US, then by the US numbers that means 6 has to be 9 in the numbered timeline. simple enough, right? straight removes Vivi and Zidane because they are from FF6 US.
but wait... is that right?

Tactics came out before FF8, and by all means it's an FF game - even with the right cameo appearances and universe which is shown later in the series yet again no less. so technically, this would make FF8 the other FF6 of the US. that removes Squall and Zell.

your rage hasn't been calmed yet Dante, it's only begun. if you truly, truly hate all things FF6 then you must take it upon your seething rage and hatred to defeat, destroy, and crumble the foundations of ALL FF6 with your own hands.

To be fair it was more of a cameo role in FFVII Part 1. It wasn't until FFVII: FFVI that he was more than just a recurring gimmick like Chocobos and Cid.
