Way to many people in here that are supporting clapping after the movie is over! It is pointless and annoying.

Pointless? Yes. Annoying? No.

Unless you're truly a fan of the outro credit music then I can't see how clapping over that would annoy you.

I was once watching Snakes on a Plane, and the audience clapped when Samuel L Jackson talked about motherf***ing snakes on motherf***ing planes. Ruined the whole movie for me.

I love when an audience gets really into a movie like that. It enhances my enjoyment of the movie, and my mood.

Clapping after (or even during) a movie at the theatre isn't the same as clapping because you played a good video game or read a good book or whatever. When you do those things, you are alone.

When you are in a movie theatre, you aren't alone. There's a whole crowd of people, enjoying the same movie at the same time as you. You may not realize this, but this does create a sense of community. Everyone is enjoying the movie together. When everybody laughs together, this does add even more to the scene. If everyone enjoys a scene or the entire movie enough to clap, and they do it together, then it creates a great kind of experience.

I literally just got back from the movie and I am seriously not just pumped up because of how great it was, but also because of how fired up everybody else was about it.

If you are incapable of establishing this kind of connection with the people around you, then I feel sorry for you.

Seriously? There are people who get annoyed at other people for finding enjoyment in things? Especially things as awesome and epic as the AVENGERS? geez. >.<

This

Especially for this kind of movie where there's so many funny and awesome scenes.

Also this is the worst excuse I've ever heard for someone to not go see Avengers right now.

I'm more ok with it if you're alone. Then you don't have to be considerate of anyone else.

I get annoyed when it detracts from my experience of the movie. For example...

*Spoilers*

I hardly even heard Hulk's "puny god" line because everyone was still clapping and laughing because of the "Hulk beats the crap out of Loki" thing that preceded it.

I'm with TC

When I go to movie theaters, I ignore the entire movie and just sit there in anticipation of the end of the movie, waiting to see if anyone claps. If they do, I didn't enjoy the movie, and if they don't, then I did.

Lol I remember last time this subject came up as SBell took all the fire for it. But I agreed with him. Im generally not easily bothered but clapping at the theater irks me for some reason.

Yes. I'll just buy a theater so I can see movies by myself.

That's because in that topic we only discussed clapping after the movie, and most people still seem to be in agreement that that's a silly thing to get bothered by. Clapping during the movie didn't come up then.
