Have you ever made a point of not revealing that you hate something because its fanbase has such a good reputation (whether or not this reputation is actually deserved)?
I almost never talk about video games in real life for this very reason. Very few of my friends have any idea that I hate games.
Then there's Parks and Recreation on NBC. It's a pretty bad show, if not without its moments, but its fans have a rep for being on the charitable side, to put it mildly, and I'd rather not be in opposition to that.
I never admit to hating any anime series, since people love to jump to the conclusion that anyone who hates a single show that was animated in Japan must think all anime is terrible, even though the ones I actually hate are the norm rather than the exception.
Anyone else?
