If you like grinding and twinking out your character d2 is better than d3. Not implying D2 has to be played that way but I'm just saying it's better suited to it with boss runs and organized leveling runs by pubs/bots and stuff.

But for like, actual gameplay d3 is a lot better. Enemies have a lot more options to come at you and their damage is better so you need to actively be using defensive skills and picking good positioning and such or you just get run over. The presentation is a huge step up too if you're into that. Like the big boss fights really feel big if you know what I mean. I'd say it's actually worth playing through normal just as a single player experience even without thinking about optimizing your character and getting crazy loot (which is of course the main draw to the games).

There are also a ton of little improvements throughout but yeah.

And I say this as a big fan of d2 mind you.

I guess that's only past normal cause on my DH my skills are

Impale, Chakram, Fan of Knives, Strafe, Entangling Shot and Rapid Fire.

All defensive skills seem to suck anyway.
