it practically would have been a bye to the NBA finals

with d-rose injured we would have taken the bulls in 5 max
probably would have swept the celtics, it maybe would go to 5. same thing if atlanta had won
conference finals: only team that would give us trouble would have been miami. however i think if we faced them in the ECF the momentum for the knicks and the increasing pressure on Lebron would give us a great chance in winning in 7. pacers have been the woodson era knicks b**** except for one quarter so that matchup would have been an easy sweep

why couldn't we have just pretended to be worse than philly :(

Man, I wish this too.

With no 76ers series, Rose doesn't get injured against the 76ers. Then they have a weak Knicks team, a struggling Boston team, and a potentially injured Heat team to go against before getting crushed by the Spurs/Thunder in the finals.

Hadn't even thought about that.

um lol?

knicks were far better than the sixers...and the sixers ran train on chicago. knicks would have easily taken boston. only explanation why you would think otherwise is that you are just a knick hater

Knicks fans really think they could sweep the Celtics? They got swept last year for a reason. Knicks are obviously closer to the Celtics this year but still.

I wonder if any team has swept a team that swept them the year before

knicks didnt have chandler/woodson/the chemistry that they have this year so last year isnt really relevant here. id probably say the series would likely go 5 if it went down, but they would also have a good shot at the sweep depending on when shumpert and baron would eventually go down in the imaginary series

A lot of Knicks fans were incredibly delusional and actually thought they could still beat Miami in the series after game 2.

In fact it seemed to be the majority opinion.

The Knick fanbase as a whole is one of the most pathetic, desperate fanbases you'll ever see.

Bulls would've stomped them *hard* even without Rose, and the Celtics would beat them in 5, maybe 6.

Well, I'm a biased Celtics fan and I think that, unless the Knicks choked, it would be a 7 game series.

Assuming, of course, both teams were healthy.

Yeah me and you both got our biases, but we don't seem to have a girlfriend who slept with a fan of the opposite team or something like Meow1000 has apparently

celtics would have dismantled them. the last time they met in MSG the knicks needed a 30 point game from novak and JR smith each, plus 37 from melo, to win at home. celtics would neutralize novak like miami did (something that doesn't get talked about enough) and win in 5.

I live in New York, I've heard it all.

About every major NY sports broadcaster thought the Heat would sweep the Knicks, and every day on the radio was nothing but call-ins from Knicks fans yelling at them and getting put down like the idiots they were.

I followed the Knicks all year, they're just not good. There's no playoff team in the East they would've beaten in a series.

I listened to the radio the day after they lost day 2 for the lulz, and even when not talking about the Knicks, all the callins over the two hours I listened were from delusional fans who still thought they'd win the series.

This is what being losers for so long in New York does for you. NY is still a third-class team in the NBA, and they're stuck with two extremely incompatible "superstars"

Fun fact: The Knicks are over .500 with just Melo, at .500 with just Amare, and well under .500 with both.

The gambles didn't work at all.

we outplayed you in 3/4 games. the loss we had in the 3rd game was a total choke but by all accounts they should have won that game.

i understand if you say that the c's could win in 7, but using words like "dismantle" and "win in 5" is insane. i kinda hold you to some megahigh posting standards cause you are that smart but that post was something that would have made biolizard jealous bro

Pierce scored 43 and we still almost lost by double digits with Stoudemire and Lin out. Why are you guys making me defend the Knicks?

The Celtics have lost twice to Philly and dropped 2 games to Atlanta. They split the season series with New York so unless they're that bad in the playoffs they wouldn't beat the Knicks in 5, maybe 6 if they played their best all game.

Seriously, I'm a huge Celtics fan and I can see this.

You must not be that big a Celtics fan, because if you were, you'd know that the matchups were very favorable for Atlanta and Philly against the Celtics based on personnel. The Knicks still have *some* matchup advantages, but they're not as pronounced as they are in the Atl/Philly series.

The one team the Celtics actually *do* matchup well with is the Heat

game 1: paul 'knick-killer' pierce was out
game 2: typical game, and this was before the celtics flipped their switch
game 3: a bit of luck was involved but rondo went for a 3x-2x and pierce was LONG overdue for a game like that
game 4: aberration

that said, in fairness celtics in 5 is assuming they don't beat themselves (see: game 2 against philly, game 5 against atlanta; they are indeed quite inconsistent) - but playing their best basketball like they did tonight, they are way better than the knicks playing their best basketball

tyson chandler also has no actual offensive game. he 'shoots' 70% yet i'm not sure i saw him bounce the ball off the floor a dozen times this season. unless the 3pt shooting goes SSJ3 like it did in that one game, solid perimeter D and kg are more than enough to deny chandler the easy finishes.

and to elaborate on why rondo's triple-double wasn't an aberration - the knicks are as bad as the lakers when it comes to opposing PGs lighting them up
