You can turn off the pawn speech in the options if you want.

FFD if you want you can probably just have my demo.

...I will gladly take it from you if you have no desire to play it.

I was seriously sitting here trying to figure out how to get the most money back from buying/selling.

Yeah but just because I mute them doesn't mean they aren't still doing everything before I get a chance to.

I'm enjoying it a lot so far. It seems like a mashup up Demons/Dark Souls and Monster Hunter, so it's not going to be for everyone, but if you're into those kinds of games I think it's worth checking out.

The only real problem I have with it is the lack of a good fast travel system. I don't need to be able to auto-warp anywhere, but some of the backtracking get get a little tedious.

Well the two Souls are basically my favorite games this gen and I thought MH was alright, so I'll give it a try after Diablo 3 blows over.

Played it and got to post game. Pretty disappointing.

The game is much smaller than I was led to believe. I thought I was maybe 30-40% of the way through when suddenly I get a quest called "The Final Battle" and I realize the game is about to end. The map feels huge when you start playing, but as you hit boundaries they fill out giant swaths of areas that are just pure mountain/ocean. The story is pretty awful, and any interesting side plots are either brief or have poor resolutions.

Combat gets incredibly repetitive and increasingly frustrating. The pawn system is an incredible idea, but not being able to control them beyond Go/Come/Help was maddening. Boss fights became "gosh darn golly I hope my mage casts her spell while this guy is vulnerable." I cannot agree with anyone who thinks that this combat is in anyway similar to Demons/Dark Souls. Playing a Strider/Ranger, there were plenty of occasions where I would just dash into enemies and just start mashing the attack button and wailing away. The kind of things that would get you killed instantly in Dark Souls just didn't really matter here. Honestly the combat is much closer to Kingdoms of Amalur than anything else.

The lack of any real fast travel is annoying. People defend this like it's adding depth to the game or something, but I don't really see the point of having to make the exact same boring 20 minute walk to the exact same place a second or even third time. A good deal of this game is spent running and dealing with random encounters to get to the fun part of the game, and it felt like it was only there to pad the experience.

One of the things that got me interested in this game was that it was supposed to be really difficult. I just didn't see that. There were a few occasions where I found monsters stronger than my current party, but in those cases it's just a matter of retreating and coming back once you've gained a few levels. Early game I spent a good deal of time just trying to figure out just which quests I could do without getting stomped into dust before I could say "inappropriate encounter level" and late game was just burning through everything without much difficulty. Forcing players to spend time walking from point A to point B along with making them puzzle out where point B is half the time and rolling the dice hoping the point B you picked is appropriate for your level isn't difficulty, or at least it's not the kind of difficulty I'm looking for in a game.

I might be being a little too harsh on the game. I didn't touch the crafting system. I tried to do every quest, but I skipped the escorts all together, and there might have been more story there. A few quests were behind points of no return, which I didn't realize until it was already too late to go back and do them, which was annoying.

Here are some positives. The pawn system again is really awesome. Finding the exact pawn you need can be a bit of a chore, and again getting them to actually do what you want can be difficult, but at its heart it's a good idea. The vocation system is pretty good. Even though they only give you one save, it really isn't that big a deal since you and your pawn can pick up new classes whenever the mood strikes you. I really liked the idea they were trying to push, make a specialized party for whatever quest you're setting out to do and then go. The problem is for a lot of the quests you're really not sure what all you'll be fighting so you just end up making sure you've got a generalized party. I'd have liked a greater indication of what one should bring along to any given quest.

I wanted to love this game, I really did. I really feel like there's a great game here that just needed a couple more years of polish. As to whether I'd recommend it or not is a tough question that I'm honestly still thinking about.

Sucks that you didn't like it. The game definitely has issues, I could probably come up with a pretty nice list of them, but in the 12 or so hours I've put into the game so far I've been able to ignore most of them.

I like both Souls games and Monster Hunter, but Dragon's Dogma seems extremely different and I hated the demo.
