Now I don't really know much about how the drives work except for the fact that they don't spin disks or contain moving parts which allows them to access data much faster than from a HDD. So what I'm curious about is the way that this interacts with the RAM. I'm noticing that many laptops with SSDs offer just 4GB of RAM.. does this mean that with the SSD even programs that are quite memory intensive (such as music production software) will run much smoother than they would on a unit with a much slower HDD, or are these two things unrelated?

I'm basically wondering whether or not getting 6-8 GB of RAM would be overkill on a laptop with a SSD.
