do you ever get the feeling that a lot of times in life, bad stuff happens to you that is totally out of your control (and at the worst times too)?
this topic is about the much more awesome times when good stuff happens to you that you didn't except.
last month due to various reasons I ended up cutting about 150 dollars out of my monthly budget because I've been thinking about other stuff that I need to start paying off as well as wanting to save up a bit of extra money. at the end of the month when my car insurance was due, I got a letter saying that my monthly payment for car insurance had dropped by 50 dollars starting this month so I ended up paying way less on that than I was expecting. the reason for it was because I pay for my car insurance as well as my mom, and she was involved in a dui situation about 3 years ago (she wasn't driving while drunk or anything) but anyway as a result her insurance was much higher. now that the 3 years were up it went down quite a bit.
so all in all I was in a situation where I felt like I needed extra money, I cut some spending in different places, and still ended up with an unexpected extra 50 dollars that I wasn't planning on.

Always do the later. "Bonus" money doesn't feel like anything special if you just pay bills or something and then it doesn't feel like anything good happened.

I found a pretty good rare ring with high Dex (I'm a demon hunter) in Diablo III when I was drunk and I had been previously using an old ring that gave direct damage bonus. I didn't realize how old it really was because when I replaced it with the new one (which gave a much bigger damage boost from the Dex), I got an achievement for having all equipment above a certain level, which was cool. Not sure what level it was though because I was drunk.

Good fortune is so hard to remember when majority is crap...
I have a vicious cycle. I make bills etc. so nothing drastic. But I'm unhappy at work and don't have a ton of free time so I spend money on things I like/want to do to make myself happy. But I hardly get around to them so I'm continually unhappy and continue to buy things I haven't used yet.
This whole year has just been really excellent so far. Like, I was short 3k or so for my tuition right before I was supposed to go to Japan, and I got approved for a loan that I didn't think I stood a chance at that covered my entire tuition. I dunno, just a lot of really great stuff, to be honest.
