Yep. Sorry, I was emailing some of the other guys about the logo sketches. I'll loop you in to see your thoughts before I get back to my designer. Things are on-track. Not for June 23, but for July 1, I'm thinking. I'm loving the response I got from B8, too.

Any recommendation for good workout earbuds?

Preferably around $50 or less. Also, only in-ear if they have foam tips that work well or sit on the inside of your ear (like the stock iPod buds or Bose earbuds). Rubber tips just don't stay in my left ear well and triple flange ones begin to annoy the **** out of me after having them in for about 20 minutes.

Well you can try the Meelectronics M6 and then buy some of the Comply foam tips separately. I personally feel that buying IEMs (I now am refusing to incorrectly say 'earbuds'!) that are made for working out isn't too smart an idea. The sound quality is always terrible. I know that's not the biggest issue when it comes to working out, but if something can be found that works just as well and sounds better, than you know.

Anyway, I'm on my phone right now so I'll try to get back to a computer later and give more recs.

I really am not a fan of Sennheiser's cheaper IEMs. They have so many of them and the quality is literally all over the place. If that's about your price range though, there's a ton to work with. What kind of sound signature are you looking for? Those Betas should have plenty of warranty, fyi.

Oh... right... warranty's a thing. Iiii definitely threw out the packaging a long while back, and tossed the buds the day they broke on me. >_>

Really, I'm just looking for any decent and cheap buds. My Brainwav Betas were the first pair of buds I've had that weren't just a minimum quality $5 pair.

Well, in my opinion, the Meelectronics M6 are the best bang-for-your buck earbuds when you don't factor in potential sales. http://www.amazon.com/MEElectronics-M6-CL-Sound-Isolating-Headphones-Players/dp/B0038W0K2U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1340737649&sr=8-1&keywords=meelectronics+m6

An earbud I've grown to really love in the $30 range are the Dunu Trident. I bought these on a whim having never tried Dunu before (they're somewhat rare) and they turned out to be really awesome. Very V-Shaped response though, as in they're bass heavy (but not agonizingly so). http://www.mp4nation.net/headphones-amps/earphones/dunu-dn-12-trident-iem-earphones

There's the Meelectronics M9 as well ... and the Soundmagic PL30 ... I'm really just throwing names out there at this point with no idea what kind of music you think you'll be listening to.

Sweet. Let me know what you think. I'm really jealous I don't have one of those or the re-brands anymore. If you find the pads to be a little uncomfortable, Brainwavz actually sells the more comfortable pads that they put on their re-brand at mp4nation.net I believe. Don't go for 'em unless you're uncomfortable with the ones that come with the Digitech (I believe that's the brand used on the cups of the Jaycar OEMs)

Of course. I have at least ten pairs that are objectively better, but I don't currently have a pair that is neutral. Those are seriously neutral champs. I've owned them in the past. And yeah, they'll probably get comfier with time, as the somewhat stiff cups loosen up.

The Meelectronics M6 sound good enough. The music I listen to would probably be considered largely either electronica or indie rock, if that changes things much.

Do I have a problem?

For reference I'm getting the Hifiman HE-400 headphones, the Schiit Lyr tube amp, and then a DAC, possibly the Bifrost but more-than likely I'll go a cheaper option for that right now.

I'm sure many of you don't understand that but YAY HEADPHONES

I get to use some pretty legit headphones when I'm running the sound board at my church, but we don't have anything quite as good as all thought. But I'm no stranger to expensive headphones. So good for picking out every single nuance of half a dozen different instrument/vocal channels at the same time.

Well, Fischer Audio is a very, very respected brand and loyalty factors into their price. They also have great support. Brainwavz is also establishing themselves well. But, the reviews also say that these headphones perform out of their price bracket. The neutral, analytical aspect of these is on par with other $250 offerings, something that's really tough to do considering the general jump in quality from $50 to $200 (which I believe to be about the biggest jump in headphone quality, honestly).

Awesome. Yeah, it's hard to actually muffle sound without active noise cancellation. Unfortunately, noise cancellation is often hand in hand with terrible sound quality. The best thing to do is get a closed pair with hard clamping force .. but then they're not as comfortable.

yeah, i've heard quite a few things as there's a lot more that's clear. at this point i think i've already 'gotten used' to them. if i'm not paying attention to the music it's one of those 'oh so this is about the same?' because obviously all the major parts are there.

but when i listen to it i realize that it isn't because there's some instruments i couldn't tell were there or were muffled underneath. and it's just subtle changes in quality to make the gap.

for a test now, i just plugged in a pair of 'cheap good ones' i had (well, relatively - phillips snug i remember seeing reviewed well for the retail price... and i got 'em for 15).

the difference is enormous. all those subtle things to make it clearer just all stand out to make every sound crisp. while it sounds blurry in comparison, not bad but just... blurry. except the background instrumentation, that REALLY stands out with these and it scales voices much, much better. things just are heard crisper, clearer, changes are noted, and everything seems to be there.

best part? that's the comparison from a rock song on youtube. not asking for the highest quality media to have notable differences in it there! within my collection... yeah. that'll be fun.

Hey Digi, would you have any recommendations for a quality set of bookshelf speakers for general turntable use? Something that plugs into a pre-amp. I just ordered the Sony SS-B1000 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000OG88KY/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00) but I'll probably have a day or two to cancel the order if you have anything comparatively priced but better in mind.

Those things will be burning in for at least 20 hours. If you put 40 hours on those and then plugged in another pair of stock the difference would be night and day. The drivers are loosening up and "burning in." Some will tell you that doesn't exist and that it's just a placebo, but I see tons of folks who've never heard the term remarking that their headphones magically sound better. I've also heard that the HM5/FA-003/Digitech/Jaycar respond well to EQing. Meaning if you're ever dissatisfied with, say, a lack of bass, they should respond well to proper bass boost and things of that nature.

For your usage, I don't think you'll get much better than that at the price. They should respond very well to any kind of amping and do what you need. I haven't heard them in particular but Sony is almost always a safe bet with speakers (and headphones). I can do a bit of snooping and see if I can come up with something better, though.
