96. Fire Emblem: Together We Ride Remix Nominated by: Kleenex
This is an abomination. My mind keeps expecting to hear the next part of the song but it never comes and just keep repeating. It's like kicking my brain in the nuts.
95. Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64: Rainbow Road remix Nominated by: Kleenex
This isn't quite that bad. It's just Crazy Bus. Which is an 'improvement'.
Today's 1/10 specials brought to you by KleenexTissue and TheKnightOfNee.
What's up with youtube and cats? Why do people like to stick cat noises in so many songs? Cat noises suck. Animal noises in general suck. Even in songs like this one that are a joke (I would assume), it just ends up being annoying. Oh yeah and there's some DMC in this too.
Holy crap this song is hilarious. Between the extremely awkward melody, the generic samples, and the Japanese guy monologuing in the background about the game's plot and philosophy and god knows what else, this song is amazing for all the wrong reasons. And it's 6 minutes long, to boot!
92. Super Mario Bros.: Super Mario Bros. - Dirty Mix (by A Scholar & A Physician, Binster, richBRF, from Overclocked Remix) Nominated by: Ed Bellis
When creating a joke song, there is a simple checklist a person should follow.
-Is your song funny? -Does your song not induce headaches? -Is your song anything more than a bunch of audacity effects and My First Sound Effects Junior Package noises thrown into a blender?
If your song has fulfilled none of these requirements, and is not Crazy Bus, then it may be SMB - Dirty Mix. And you should get it checked out at your local hospital as soon as possible.
Lord Blazer would have gotten a 10/10 and crushed the rest of this list. I can say this because I'm never letting people recommend me remixes and compiling a list like this ever again, for reasons that will be detailed as we journey through this list.

it's a palindrome

wtf is this s*** huntercoolx 10 months ago
It's a reminder to all you bad kids out there... Don't steal somebody else's lunch! You never know what's in it. (Somebody remixed the song, and I wanted to show someone it... so I spent like 5 minutes to record something to go along with it. SORRY) Galbalan in reply to huntercoolx 10 months ago
This song - no, this video - is incredible. The random background beats, the random tempo speed ups, the random echo effects, all set to someone (badly) videotaping themself walking around the Millenial Fair...it's basically a work of art.
Due to the apparent lack of cat noises and random meaningless distortions, I'm going to assume that this song was not a joke nominations. If so, man. This song is just unpleasant. It would be much better if the samples weren't terrible, but they are, and sound like program sound effects from the 80s mashed together and just do not work well together whatsoever.

Hey don't act like you didn't find some 8/10 quality songs in this project

ONLY FIVE CAN LADDER. Sushi, kamikaze, fujiyama, nippon-ichi...
89. Clannad: Ana (Memento remix album) Nominated by: lefty
Jesus, this song. I think there's a semblance of a decent song underneath the incredibly jarring distortions and effects, but even then, it sounds pretty generic. It should probably be lower, I don't really like any part of it.
This list has made me realize that distortion should be left up to the pros. a.k.a. Drakengard.
88. Gundam: S.S.H. -Grave of Being- Nominated by: SubDeity
If I ever wanted to induce an instant guitar-induced headache, this song would be one of my first choices. This is the first of about a million or so guitar songs that grace this list. Now, I like guitars, but let me tell you. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. unfortunately for Grave of Being, it's not even a good thing.
Yeah, the entire point of the Cobalt song is it uses sound samples found in Mega Man X to give the song an SNES feel. It's not the greatest, but I was more curious what your reaction to the use of those sounds would be. I didn't anticipate you not picking up on them at all!

ONLY FIVE CAN LADDER. Sushi, kamikaze, fujiyama, nippon-ichi...
And an explanation on the DMC/Monster Hunter song, which is a joke nom. <_<
It's just a medley of DMC songs mixed in with sounds that one of the Monster Hunter creatures makes, which happens to be cat-like. Masato Kouda composed music for both games, so he made this ridiculous combination to unite the two.
Also the track title on the CD isn't even written out, it is literally just drawings of three paws.

87. F-Zero X: Crazy Call at Cry Nominated by: SubDeity
My ears. F-Zero songs are usually it or miss, and this is definitely a miss. When the guitars act as the centerpiece, the backing layer, and the vocals, then your song is probably going to give people migraines. Are we seriously only 10 or so songs into this list? I think the last two songs have given me enough guitars already.
86. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: It's Morphin' Time! Nominated by: Mega Mana
S***.
Honestly this might be higher in a less guitar-saturated list, but at the moment it does nothing to make itself stand out. It actually really annoys me and I'm not sure why. It doesn't seem like a terrible song, it just...rubs me the wrong way.
Just realized that I put 92 instead of 96 in the topic title. Go me!
This is a decently done trance version of the Cheetahman Theme, which has had the most inexplicable surge in popularity I've ever seen. I would probably like this song if I liked the Cheetahman theme at all.
84. Final Fantasy VI: Anthem of Exile (Jiggin Jon T) Nominated by: Kaxon
Listening to this song again just now, I kinda wondered why it was so low. It isn't that bad. It's mostly just average. I'm not sure why I stuck it so low to begin with.
When I considered bumping it up, that's when I realized why it was so low. I just don't care. This song is so dull that nothing about it inspires me to properly place it. It got placed here for whatever reason the first time, and you know what, it's staying here. Maybe if it wanted to be given a fair shake it should've made me able to remember it the second it stopped playing. That'll teach it.
This is a remix of Time Circuits, and maybe some other stuff. It gets weird. I do not like Time Circuits. I have never liked Time Circuits. Its continued popularity on B8 (and basically the entire internet) is something I will never understand. So this remix wasn't going to be a winner from the start.
It tries some different styles and stuff, but I just don't care for it in general. It also does the terrible, terrible remix thing of putting in random song lyrics in the middle of the song, that aren't even really lyrics, and are mostly just awkward talking. I don't get it. This has never once improved a song. The only exception I can think of is Smiles and Tears, which has one small thing at the very end, and that's it. Songs that do this tend to just ruin their flow and really jar the listener, and this one is no exception.
P.S. This song did NOT need to be 10 minutes long.
82. Sonic Colours: Stan SB - Sonic Colours Nominated by: SSBDarren64
Don't have much to say about this one. It just doesn't click with me. Has a few neat things, but is kind of boring, but also kind of annoying.
81. Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World: Go The Distance (I'll Go) Nominated by: Niorapth
Guitar overload.
80. Donkey Kong Country 2: Forest Birdcussion (Protricity) Nominated by: Kaxon
Hey, it's Stickerbrush Symphony! That's never been remixed before!
This song feels barely different from the original at times, and what changes it does make only serve to detract from what the original version. It doesn't offend me like some of the other songs on this list, but it's not close to good, either.
79. Final Fantasy V: Low Tech Son - Clash on the Big Bridge Nominated by: FL81
This is a jazz version of Clash on the Big Bridge. On paper it sounds like a great idea - I love Clash on the Big Bridge, and jazz is neat. But I just don't like it very much. It sounds 'off', like it was made by a not-particularly-skilled remixer or something. The samples are a bit grating, and it times the jazzed-up (heh heh heh) melody doesn't work very well. It's not terrible, but it could have been done better. Maybe someone else here will appreciate it more than me.
This song exemplifies a lot of my general problems with remixes. For reference, this is Emiya:
This song is not Emiya. It is a 7-minute long trance song that very occasionally has a few recognizable notes from Emiya. If you're going to make the song so completely different from the original, you might as well just make it an original song and call it a day. I would forgive this if it was a good song, but it really isn't. It's generic and mildly annoying trance.
I think this song realizes it's not Emiya, because it does the 'awkward lyrics that are really talking' thing and forces in the Unlimited Blade Works poem from FSN, and it's just terribly implemented.
77. Jet Force Gemini : S.S. Anubis Nominated by: todbot
As a fan of the Jet Force Gemini soundtrack, this is not the best remix of one of its songs. It tries to 'update' some of the samples to be more modern, but it doesn't work very well. Most of them sound weird and take away the oomph and style the original song had. Much prefer the original version in this case.
76. Romancing Saga 2: Last Battle (Post Production Mitsuto Suzuki Mix) Nominated by: TheKnightOfNee
I'm not really sure what this song is trying to go for. Is it supposed to be sad? Calming? Atmospheric? I can't tell because nothing happens in it. I can't hate it or anything, but it's like, okay.
Ed will probably call it 'coma-inducing' and I can't really fault him for it.
Heh, I actually just relistened to it and found it to be a little better than I remembered. At least better than some of the other guitar-wailers on this list. They all started to blend together after a while, which made ranking...difficult.
I'm also listening to that Sonic Colours track now and finding it a lot better than I thought before, even though I just gave it a quick listen-through before posting it. I'm weird.

He did a whole F/SN tribute album, which was where I got it from.

4.5/10 75. Mega Man X2: karikari - The Strong -Counter Hunter- Nominated by: FL81
This song is worse than I remember it being, and I wasn't particularly fond of it to being with. It's very generic and doesn't really excite me in any way. There's no buildup, no real melody, it's just 'yeah, let's guitar'. The best part about it is that it's over in two minutes.
74. Touhou 6: The Maid and the Pocket Watch of Blood (dbu remix) Nominated by: ImTheMacheteGuy
Touhou remixes tend to be much better than their source material, but this one didn't really work for me. It just tries to do too much (what a shocker!!!). I find myself appreciating the lulls more than the highs because my brain just wants a break. If it had taken out that weird, shrill...chimey-layer in the background that keeps playing and breaking up the song, it would be a good bit better.
It's another Touhou! They're falling like flies!!!
I *completely* forgot was this song sounded like, so I had to give it a quick listen-to. I can see why I forgot it. It's completely unmemorable in every way.
72. The 7th Guest: Microscopism (Mazedude) Nominated by: MycroProcessor
If Mycro ever leaves the board, we will all be much worse off. I have no idea what this song is trying to do, or what it's trying to convey, but I'm glad I listened to it all the same. I probably enjoyed the experience more than some songs ranked above it - I just don't want this sort of thing on repeat!
71. Chrono Trigger: Corridors Of Time (Zeal Theme) by Prodecuer Karitsu Nominated by: Jeff Zero
For what it's worth, I like this rendition of Time Circuits more than the original!
70. Zwei!! - Demon King Vespar (by Falcom Sound Team jdk, from zwei!! SUPER ARRANGE VERSION) Nominated by: Ed Bellis
I wasn't that fond of the original Demon Vespar, although I did like it. I think this remix is worse. It loses everything that made Demon Vespar sort of unique and makes it pretty generic and not very interesting to listen to. The samples are a little more annoying, and the song doesn't give you any room to breathe; something is always playing. Some songs pull that off just fine, but this just seems cluttered.
You guys aren't obligated to keep up with me! Go at your own pace. I just like doing these topics fast. I don't care for dragging them out like some people.
Actually, now that I can give it its own time, I probably ranked it too low. That song might be the only rendition of Time Circuits I've heard that I actually sorta like. Holy crap.
