TL;DR: Rap Battle sign ups, choose either Heavyweight, Middleweight, or Lightweight Division when you sign up
So this is my new idea for a rap battle league, it takes the ideas of most of the previous ones, but I'm also trying my best to fix most of the potential flaws. First off, we've had mostly the same battlers for the last few years, I'm hoping this league will bring in a lot of new faces. If you're new, or you just think you'd enjoy a contest like this, you will now only battle people that are at the same skill level that you are. To start there will be 3 different divisions: Heavyweight Division for the top tier battlers; Middleweight for vets who have some skills, but might not be up to par with some of the other top users; and the Lightweight Division, for new users that want to try this out, or people who have enjoyed the rap battles in the past but haven't yet perfected their talents. When you sign up you can choose which division you think suits you best, but keep in mind that you could be moved if either I (or others) think you belong in a different division, and also keep in mind that I want the divisions to be pretty even in terms of number of battlers.
Another problem of the past has been voting and participation dropping in the later rounds. This has been solved in two ways: first off no one gets eliminated, the goal is to have a title belt but you're never eliminated. Also vote totals will be consistent throughout due to the fact that the voting style is now different. Each battle will have 5 preselected judges, all of which will be agreed upon by both battlers. Anyone who signs up is allowed to volunteer to be a judge for any battle, but being a judge is not a requirement to being in the league.
Another problem has been people's lives preventing them from being able to finish battles, this is no longer a problem because you are allowed to take as much time off as you want, whenever you want. As a matter of fact there is no longer a preset schedule, you will only get into battles that you agree to be in, and you'll have at least 2 weeks to prepare for each battle. Most battles will also only be 1 verse each (except for title matches), so time won't be an issue.
I'll try to have at least one battle going at all times but pretty much you can be in battles as often, or as little as you want. There will be special events every month or two, which will always have at least one title match and one special event in them. *Special events will be special battles, which usually won't affect your record, these can include 3 way battles, theme battles, and I've got a few more ideas.
So even if you can't battle for the next couple weeks, sign up if you're interested. Choose a division (remember you're not guaranteed to get put in the division you choose, but I'll try my best to put everyone where the think they belong). Feel free to add suggestions. Also anyone from any board is allowed to join, so feel free to recruit people from any other board that you frequent, message previous vets, etc. Please don't use alts.
Lastly let me know if you would be interested in helping me run this (you can still be in the contest, actually I'd prefer it if you were in the contest). I'll need someone to run the wiki, people to help with posting battles when I'm not around, and people to bounce ideas off of.
Ok so that was a lot, I'm sure there was still more that I wanted to say but I'll post it as I think of it. There's no limit to the amount of users who can join, but there is a minimum requirement for me to put in my time and effort to run this.

This sounds cool. I really liked the previous rap battle, but I had trouble keeping up with all the different battles going on. I'm definitely a newbie when it comes to making my own raps, but I'd like to try it out, so put me down for the lightweight division. I can also volunteer to be a judge, I guess. As long as there's a good amount of judges and I don't have to vote for each and every battle, I can do it. Like I said, I had a lot of fun reading the battles, but I eventually just got behind and didn't have it in me to read them all.

Also I forgot to add, there will also be a Tag Team Title Belt.
There will be no divisions for Tag Team. Anybody can be your partner, and you can change partners whenever you want. Basically a Tag Team match will be the same as a regular one, but you're allowed to message your partner back and forth before the battle and together you will come up with a battle verse.

I would say sign me up for heavyweight, but I know that there is approximately 0 chance I could rap any time in the next 6 weeks due to my crazy work schedule and how drained I expect to be.
I would be interested in judging either way though and will keep up to date.
Thanks Cokes. And I appreciate the help Alec, hopefully you'll be able to join when you get some free time, the Heavyweight belt will feel like an interim belt until you're back.
Heavyweight: BBalman7 WalrusJump Hidori_Tsunadre
Middleweight:
Lightweight: Peace___Frog Tom Bombadil
Middleweight division very competitive so far.

I'll sign up heavywight, and to be honest I still feel creatively drained from the last one. But its really cool that you took interest again so quickly, especially now that its come back with solutions to interest problems specifically, it's always sad to see these things peter out even when you have remarkable talents (AA, SBP, DC, holy **** DC was Swif7y, Realo, etc.) that typically survive to make it what you'd expect to be MORE interesting.
How long do you consider a verse? Also, when can we start battles, and do we just challenge people within our division?
The average verse will only be between 8-12 lines. Title Matches might be as much as 16 line verses and up to verses each. Battles will start roughly 2 weeks after we get enough members, and you can challenge users in your division, if they accept then you'll have a couple weeks to prepare a verse. I will also be setting up matches but both users will have to agree. The only matches that could occur without both parties consent is a title match.
