microsoft is trying to put in more processors instead of just upgrading them, I'm guessing because the technology for upgrading them isn't here yet. It's going to have 6-8 2 ghz processors that act as both the cpu and gpu.

I hope this rumor isn't true. I don't want motion controls. That's why I skipped the Wii! And all of this virtual reality stuff, so much hardware to have to store. Why can't I just get a box to attach to my TV?
I was talking about the first article, because when I read it, the $299 pricetag that a couple of people seemed to be quoting seemed to me to be talking about a 360 bundle. But my head is such a mess today that I take it back; if everyone else is reading that line as talking about the 720, then I take it back and trust in the overall judgment.
Reading comprehension is like, -500% today.

From: Jeff Zero | #009 Is no one else actually reading the article, because that's not what it says >___> there's two articles. the second one just says stuff that a few people on reddit claimed to have seen in addition to what IGN said.
Which article, and which part?
edit:
another article by zeldainformer that summarizes what each company said they want their next system to be:
We all know what Nintendo has with the Wii U, Microsoft wants to make a powerful but affordable system that's more than just a game device, and Sony wants the PS4 to blow away the competition when it comes to hardware, even if it's insanely expensive.

Even if it is real, it appears to be from 2010 judging from the timeline shown early on. Still, any of these ideas could make it into the final release.
edit: and you guys really need to look at this document. It's pretty interesting.

They also say that you'll never have to upgrade your hardware again. I'm guessing they might consider doing what onlive is doing/will go with cloud computing.
Plus, they expect it to last 10 years.

From: Jakyl25 | #024 I take that back, the 360 is on pace to be CLOSE to 100 Million if they pushed it out to 10 years.
I find the phrases "expect it to last 10 years" and "never have to upgrade your hardware again" a little contradictory. <_< I'm guessing that it will work like a computer from now on. You get a new xbox when your old one breaks.

This seems quite elaborate for a fake, but with too many questionable things to be real. A lot of the questions, I suppose, could be brushed off with "it's an internal document from 2010 for discussion purposes only"....but there's some that can't be. I mean, what's HSDPA doing in a console? What's a WiMax receiver doing in a console? HDMI and DisplayPort....both of them? And LVDS...really LVDS? (look it up....Google Image search will quickly show you why this isn't a thing that will happen). And not just HDMI, but also wireless HDMI?
Oh and that machine with all that stuff is going to be US$299 next year, including the next revision of Kinect, and sell for a profit from day 1?
There's a lot of nice, believable, plausible stuff in there, but there's some clear nonsense too, which does mean that this is either fake, or we're in for a very strange console.
Expecting 100 Million lifetime sales is quite lofty!
As far as consoles go only the PS1 and PS2 have managed that.
I think if anyone is likely to hit that number next-gen, it'd be the next Xbox. As long as Microsoft plays it smart with the price and features, it'll be the big console next-gen. They have all the mindshare and momentum right now.
I think it makes sense from their perspective and where they're at. The Xbox sold 25 million, the 360 will sell over 75 million, and if they keep that same increase next-gen they should be around 100 million. Focusing on Europe instead of Japan, like this gen, could probably help that.

Pro tip: if a major internal Microsoft document doesn't say "Microsoft Confidential," it's probably not real. Microsoft's law firm got the original site for the document down, so it's real.
Also, for whatever reason I think Microsoft won't do as good sales-wise as people think next gen. Part of this is because of the third console curse, as well as me feeling that Microsoft is focusing too much on all these crazy ideas and not the main console features.

Man, if third consoles are considered cursed just based on the 7800, Saturn, N64, and PS3, then fourth consoles must be REALLY cursed considering the only representatives there are the Jaguar, Dreamcast, and Gamecube.

The fourth one is just that the situation won't improve. It could mean console death if certain circumstances are met.
For example, given how Sony is willing to make a really expensive console as long as it's the most powerful next gen, I don't think they'll get back their positions in the ps2 era.

there's not much to talk about. new Xbox in 2013 was absolutely necessary for them because they're right now in the same position the Wii was in 2010. the power gap shouldn't be that much either between the Wii U and whatever the new one is since the Wii U's hardware in the leaked specs is pretty damn modern and from the sounds of it, it will be here too, just not so crazy. meaning they're focusing on functionality of the hardware over the specs, which... i'd say is a good idea.

"Maybe it's a tentacle, molesting the planet itself. - Aschen Brodel.
....ah. like maybe they aren't talking about that on the user-end, but just on their end in the way that the 360 and PS3 just kept throwing model after model, hardware revision after hardware revision. that'd make a lot more sense.

From: TheKoolAidShoto | #046 You gotta remember this thing is 2 years old and is probably before they asked publishers/third parties what they want in the next Xbox I'm not sure if they would have to ask. If third parties liked the 360, they shouldn't have to change much.
Still, if this is real, there's a good chance that some of these ideas can happen.

My question is what do they launch this thing with? Halo 5 won't come until at least 2014, probably the same with Gears of War 4 since Epic Games' Gears team is working on Gears of War Judgement for next March, Bungie's Destiny is 2014, Forza is this year, IDK what's going on with Fable...
But, it's not like the 360 launch line-up was anything to write home about, either.

November 2013 sounds about right, 8 years definitely an impressive run for 360. Though I'm glad it lasted longer than usual, since I had to buy a second after a few years.
