Overall, it was pretty damn good. There were a lot of excellent moments that couldn't have been done in the game. The final trial day of Case 1-4 was especially well-done. Hell, all 3 trial days of 1-4 were really good, even if it missed some good moments (like von karma complaining that the trial didn't end in 3 minutes). I also love the utilization of things in the game, such as the NOT GUILTY *confetti* and Phoenix LITERALLY throwing evidence at witnesses. I also like some of the other little things.
Note that a lot of the plot has been modified. Overall story is there, just some of the things changed. Some of the most notable changes are:
-A lot about 1-2. May, Grossberg, and Bellboy are all gone. Redd White's testimony is both April May's and his testimonies in one. Also, he's now a tabloid reporter who wears sunglasses indoors.
-Maya channeling Mia is now just a figment of Phoenix's imagination. No one else can see Mia being channeled except for Phoenix himself.
-Gregory Edgeworth was apparently accused of destroying evidence right before he got shot. Also, there was a fight in the evidence room as opposed to in the elevator.
-von Karma's entire career is apparently based on fraud as opposed to that one instance in DL-6. Also, he hired Redd White and poisoned him when he was going to testify in 1-2.
All characters did very well. Maya was kind of in the back seat, though. She didn't really do that much and didn't really act like her usual peppy self. Larry, though, oh my god. Larry stole the show. Jesus. He's in every trial and he always makes it fun by being in the audience, it's great. Gumshoe, despite his clean-cut look, is still relatively silly and scatterbrained.
Credits scene was so good, by the way. You gotta watch it. There's a very quick reference to Case 2-4 and Matt Engarde does show up briefly. Also, it has Edgeworth playing the guitar and a giant Jammin' Ninja float. There's also some small references to the other cases and characters. I thought I saw someone who looked similar to Atmey in the court audience. Not too many though. Also, The Blue Badger shows up many times and it's wonderful.
Overall? Very good film and fans of PW will love it, I imagine. Just know that lots of things got cut out or modified, probably due to time. Also, there's quite a lot of original lines and dialogue in the script and they're usually really good. If you get a chance to watch it, by all means, do so. I believe there's a live showing in New York City, Australia, Dallas, and the movie itself can be seen on some airlines. Probably on ones going to Asia.
