I just got hired as an FTE where I work and will now be making 400 or so more dollars a month. I don't want to spend it ALL on video games but I should at least celebrate with a couple choice purchases.
Any suggestions from 2 dollar games to 60 dollar games are welcome. It would take an awful lot to pry 60 bucks from me for one game but it's not impossible. Older games are fine too, chances are I haven't played it.
First, wait for the sale to start. Then buy these.

Also a great feature of Steam is the recommended games from friends, so if you have a good amount of friends, check out the recommendation tab and check out their reviews. Usually you can find some more obscure games that you might like that way.

I'll just say that those are all prone to go on sale. (And honestly you should never pay full price for a Steam game unless you REALLY want it)
Also be on the look-out for various Indie Bundles, especially the Humble Bundle, those tend to contain Steam keys and you pick your own price on what to pay for them.
As for actual suggestions, Recettear and Super Meat Boy.

Get the launcher from kentie.net, and the high resolution texture pack, also from that site. You can fix sound problems and make the game look a lot better with it.

Don't buy anything yet, the Summer sale is going to start really soon, and it's going to be OFF THE CHAIN. (As always.) By the way, Steam sale 101 incase you don't know: If you have your eyes on a title, wait for it to be a daily deal before buying it. If it's never a daily deal, you can just buy it on the last day of the sale for the regular discounted price.
Yeah, they put old games on sale all the time. Like neko said, you can bet on like a Deus Ex bundle or something for some absurd price, along with probably the original for 2 bucks on its own . >_>
deus ex is regularly on sale. as are a LOT of the indie games people are throwing at you, most of which have been in indie bundles. so you can expect them to be 99% certain that steam's sale will include them at some point or another.
