They're not like Skyrim at all, they're much more narrative and quest driven. Combat is also entirely different and is more like the D20 system in KotOR.

I personally couldn't get through the first one but I did not get very far. My friends all love it.

If you like ultra generic fantasy that takes no risks, DAO is worth five dollars. DA2 is not, however.

DA2 officially has been said that it own't be getting an Ultimate version or anything, so yeah. no harm in grabbing that one as it's effectively complete.
