A song is a song. Are we going to split Descend into like 10 songs too?

You can't just start banning the best entries in a contest because they might win.

It's not even remotely the same. Descend takes beats and themes from the major songs and ties them together. Cascade takes 4 songs and places them one after the other, except a little bit of alteration for a few seconds at the end of Dreaming Dead and Flare. Plenty of people won't think of Descend as a bunch of songs, EVERYONE realizes that Cascade is just 4 songs. And, again, barely anybody who doesn't read HS will be willing to listen to a 13 minute songs. If Cascade gets in, then the other 4 songs should not, or vice versa.

I agree, the songs should not be in individually. Cascade (Beta) and Flare only work well as part of a whole and SotDD is also better in Cascade.

Btw, is anyone keeping track of the nominations? It would be good if someone made a list of what we have so far so we know where to put our last votes.

I think you have the problem in reverse here dude, because everyone else seems to think Cascade will win the contest too easily and that's why it should be banned.

Not saying that will happen, but people don't act like you're saying, even if they're not Homestuck fans. Cascade will not lose early.

128-song bracket IMO. Even some of the +1 songs should definitely be in the contest, like Black Rose/Green Sun.

EDIT: Also, if you go with a 64-song bracket, votes for variations of the same song should be added together. Horschestra + STRONG version should just be combined as one entry (STRONG version) as should Showtime and the Imp version.

I was thinking of +5ing Black Rose / Green Sun on the final day, but then figured Cascade was enough.

There's only 102 total songs right now, so if we want 128 we'd need extended noms.

Just split Cascade and put in all the joke songs that haven't gotten in yet as low seeds to pad out the bracket. Also, the entirety of I'm Having a Baby (And the Baby Is You) as 16-seeds.

Or just extend noms, really there's already too much good stuff in that list to not do 128 at this point. Plus I bet I can find five good songs that aren't on the list yet.

...why does this stupid contest grab my attention this much.

Terraform is one of the few good songs on Vol 8 so I'll toss it a bone I guess. Seriously I just listened to Vol 8 to find songs and not much is on there. Vol 9's quantity:quality ratio is so much better it's almost funny. I'm just even less familiar with Vol 9 than I am with the other albums.
