The whole "Disney isn't what it used to be" and "Kids today don't have Disney magic in their lives" is so played out and simply not true. The new Disney stuff is great and sometimes better than a lot of the classic material, and unless they are raised by true idiots Disney movies still play a big part in people's lives.

Just the other day I saw a little kid with a Simba stuffed animal in line at the deli. Younger than 11.

Soooo.... show her some Disney movies?

We know those songs because we watched the movies growing up. The real tragedy here is that her family (you and the guy who made that facebook post) never exposed her to the stuff!

if you want your kid / cousin / younger sibling / niece / nephew to experience things you did as a child, take some initiative and introduce them yourself.

Yeah. I don't know how kids are supposed to know something they weren't exposed to, and the simple answer isn't to go "Ignorant kids." It's to... Show it to them.

It doesn't help that Disney does that "IT'S GOING INTO THE DISNEY VAULT" crap to make it tougher.

But it's not like we didn't watch the movies together as kids. When we were young, whenever my cousins came over, we'd watch Peter Pan. We also watched the other movies too. I think we saw Lion King together at least once, and probably some other ones too.

If you feel like kids today don't know about the good stuff from back in the day, just watch this kid:

There's no reason he should know about any of this stuff and yet he's more nuts about it than I was over 20 years ago!

How old are you. 'Cuz if "we watched it together" is "I watched it while my 5 years or younger cousin was in the room," then...

Actually they came over for 4th of July and I decided to see what Nickelodeon was airing throughout the day. From 10 to 8, all they aired was Spongebob, iCarly, Victorious, Tuff Puppy (which only had a single 1-hour block), and Figure It Out. We talked about how even a few years ago Nickelodeon had a lot more shows. She really likes Figure It Out, though.

It's Walt Di$ney we're talking about here. Of course they're going to be that way about their Di$ney Ma$terpiece$. To hell with the kids when there's moneys to be made.

Does the Disney Vault even exist anymore? Every animated feature that has been released on Blu-Ray is still incredibly easy to find. I know that a lot of the major ones are still yet to be released, but the internet has made it incredibly easy to buy pretty much any DVD out there.

Yea, it still "exist". Though the recent release of a lot of the stuff on Blu-ray is still easy to find. I could see a new Vault release being done in about 4 to 5 years once people have largely moved away from DVDs.

There's only 16 Vault movies, and I don't think there's any real hard-and-fast rules about how often they can come out. I'm pretty sure more popular ones like Aladdin and The Lion King come out more frequently than stuff like Pinocchio or Lady and the Tramp.

Anyway the best cartoon is The Road To El Dorado which isn't even Disney so who cares about the stupid vault.

God, I hated disney songs as a kid. Every single daycare, every single class, everything in general always played disney movies and always the same 2 so it'd just be the same songs droning on and on and on and on and on.

P&tF and Tangled are pretty top tier as well as anything Not Cars that Pixar makes. With bs like the Disney Vault you can't blame kids for not knowing 90s Disney these days.
