Well, the Nuggets lost another narrow one to the Rockets. Damn. Their grip is slipping because the damn Blazers won't stop winning all of a sudden

Iron Fist wasn't terrible, and it wasn't boring....it just had bad writing and character development. Some characters flip their entire motivations back and forth whenever the plot calls for it.

The fight scenes were also the worst,which is a crime considering the show is based on martial arts. Too many cuts which obscure the action. Too many times I saw a bad guy with his arm cocked for a full second waiting to get his punch countered. It was sloppy.

Another thing that bugs me (maybe spoilers): They never show anything regarding K'un Lun. I would have liked to see some of Danny's struggles to help me care about him, but it's all glossed over and shown in repeated flashbacks.

I took a day off of playing yesterday, but I went back and played it some today and it's still enjoyable for me. The main strength of this game was exploring the overworld anyway, so it's nice to be able to do that without having to feel like I'm getting off-task, or worry about accidentally being exposed to plot spoilers.

I can't really bother with getting all of the Compendium, Korok seeds and armor upgrades, but I'm thinking about doing all the shrines and sidequests... maybe even that is overkill.

Yeah I finished it. I have my few minor gripes but we only gripe about the things we love, right? It was an amazing game I think. A lot of people are calling it the best game ever. For me I refuse to name any game the best ever but there is a tier of games where if someone says it's the best ever I won't think they're stupid. Breath of the Wild easily fits into this tier. I didn't think the final boss was very good though. The first section is extremely frustrating because he's basically impossible to hit without Daruk's protection and the Gerudo attaxk which I stupidly didn't think of. I just shot bomb arrows at him and about 25% of those damaged him. His second form was cooler and more fun but it was essentially a playable cutscene. Not a huge deal but I was a little disappointed because Zelda games usually do such a good job with boss fights.


Meanwhile I started playing Mass Effect Andromeda today. That's also why I'm posting so late. It is not the best game ever but I'm enjoying it so far. It also has huge open areas and lots to do and see but it is definitely less smooth in those areas than Zelda. That climb function really was a game changer. I don't know what the next 3D Zelda will be like but there's no doubt that Link will be climbing again.

Doing all the shrines could be fun and I only have like 30 to go but I will never even consider doing all the side quests. Most of them are very bland. Like get me ten frogs or whatever. Zzzzzzz

Do I still need to spoiler tag things? I guess I will to be nice, although I doubt anybody else in the topic really cares and if they ever do play it they'll probably forget by then.

I found the boss fight really frustrating, too. I'm assuming you're talking specifically about the part when he turns glowing red. I found that you could only attack him while he was attacking you, which made it very hard. I did have Daruk's and Urbosa's abilities turned off and didn't think to try them, but I figured since they're things you can turn off, they wouldn't really be that effective for the fight. And the second form was quite lame, they might as well have just made the horse run automatically since it was such a scripted battle anyway. I didn't even get hurt once on that part. The ending cutscene (even the "true" ending that I looked up) seemed a little bare to me as well, but that's just part of an entire story that was pretty minimal.

Yeah, the side quests kind of suck, and I find it inconsistent how they logged them. I guess maybe the side quests are determined by people being at a fixed location or something? It's just lame how there are some that get logged but the ultimate result is like a silver rupee. It didn't feel right to have those in there alongside much more involved ones. I probably did the most interesting ones already since I completed the house and Tarrey Town ones

Yeah if you use the super powers he staggers and you can get a few good melee hits in. I noticed the split second of vulnerability so that's why I used the bomb arrows on Revali's special bow that shoots three arrows at once. Higher chance I'd thread the needle. I was in denial about having to hit him during that extremely small window because it seemed like an impossible task. I can't imagine kids are going to be able to get past him unless they can stand to sit there for like 36 minutes to reuse their powers over and over. It would have been fine I'd the window to attack had been like a full second longer. It was just crazy.

Even that one sucks kind of since all you do is chop down trees. It's a nice little story though and there's a nice progression / sense of accomplishment. I can't really think of another one that felt substantial at the moment.

What do you guys think about this outrage about NBA teams being smart and resting their guys?

It looks like team USA is probably going to win the WBC. Gonna go to bed though instead of watching the end.

I see both sides of it. The teams are doing what they can to win a championship, however they are first and foremost a spectator sport, so when they get nationally televised games, they should probably show the best product they can.

Yeah, I feel like there must be some way for these teams to better schedule their rest days. I'm fine with resting players but it does suck when it happens on big nationally televised game days. I know that it's hard to determine because there are a lot of factors that are hard to control for ahead of time, like where they are in the standings, recent OT games and timing of injuries/returns from injuries that might affect how the coach wants to set his lineup.

I'm sure the league could be doing something about it too, though, like not putting these games as part of back-to-backs or following one rest day after a back-to-back. I'm sure that's not actually the case with all of those situations, but it's probably some.

My hopes of winning the highly contested PotD NCAA Bracket falls on the shoulders of LaVar Ball's son tomorrow.

Most of us have our champion out so I'm not sure you would lose even if UCLA doesn't win. I don't wanna look through everyone's brackets to figure it out, but maybe I have a chance, since I'm tied for first even with my Nova pick

Yeah, I figured I'd at least drop down to your position if UCLA loses. It gets muddled after that.

It's pretty cool that he also did it while playing in the youngest starting lineup in NBA history.

That's probably how he did it. It's certainly a nice accomplishment either way but it probably says more about his supporting cast than it does about him

I guess that's true. I felt the same way about Kobe's 81 and Westbrook's triple-double crusade this season.

I didn't go to a sporting event for over a year either, I don't think. Maybe one baseball game last year, but I can't remember. Oh, I went to see a sports entertainment event when WWE No Mercy was in Sacramento. I'll definitely try to go to more baseball games this upcoming season.

Last two games I went to were two Rockies games between August and September of last year. I can't remember the last time I went to a Nuggets game. That would be nice, but I'm running out of time for this year. I never went to very many Avs or Broncos games.

If North Carolina wins today, I lock up the victory in my office bracket pool. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I must have missed the post. I have been skimming through this topic lately with all the zelda posts. That benefits you though, because I won the last 2 years. About time someone else has a chance to win.

Hey guys, I heard a new Zelda game just came out, anyone play it?

So, Iron Fist...it's bad. It's so bad, I strongly recommend you skip the entire show, and if you want to know the basics of the story before The Defenders (that's the next show coming out, right?), just read a synopsis of it. Loras Tyrell is a very bad actor, and Danny Rand is incredibly unlikeable. Storylines make no sense, and all but one fight scene was awful. Don't watch it!
