I think they mostly did well. Ray's and Sebastian's are both really good. Gregory's are kind of weird, but I guess they were going for the "old man" sound there deliberately.

Fun fact: Phoenix and Edgeworth are older in SoJ than Gregory is in E2-3.

Well, to be honest, I've always thought Edgeworth's TAKE THAT is a little odd. It almost sounds like a different person from his OBJECTION clip.

I can't remember what the others sound like right now since I haven't hit them yet, but yeah, AAI2's batch is better than AAI1's, which are pretty weak. Yew's is awful, and Portsman's is whatever. I kind of like Alba's though for the narm value of HUBJECTION

Yeah part of it's just because AAI1 doesn't have that many clips, and it comes down to Alba's good, Yew's atrocious, and Portsman's completely unmemorable. All of AAI2's are at least passable.

I don't mind dropping spoiler tags for non-essential AAI2 things, although I feel like most people who drop into a topic like this have played the mainline ones, at least. Also, the fan translation has been done for almost three years now. I'm fine with getting rid of spoiler tags for anything other than DGS starting next topic though.

Speaking of DGS, I'm thinking of giving it another watch once I finish up all the Sherlock Holmes stories. I've been slowly reading through them all since I finished watching the LP last year, and I think it'd be fun to go through the game again with a better appreciation of all the Holmes references in the game.

I guess that sounds like complaining but it wasn't meant to be. I have a pretty ideal situation here all things considered.

I'm just bad about giving away my free time to B8 when I could/should be doing other things. I spend about half of my week mostly working alone regardless of which job I'm at, and my social circle here is very small because I knew like two people when I moved here and I'm not naturally outgoing to begin with. B8 is basically where I go for social stimulus these days, and I play games a lot because it's something I can do alone. Plus, I watch very little TV (mostly sports if anything most days) and very few movies.

I thought about taking a break from the board once I finished all this stuff since I've been getting busier lately, but then Allen decided to announce a contest (that I only have a marginal interest in, but still) so I guess I'll have to continue to use my time inefficiently for a little while longer beyond that.

I think we all suffer from that to a certain extent. I should absolutely have kicked this habit years ago but here I am. it's just internet home and there's nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, I don't really plan to leave B8 forever or anything unless the place completely dies (and I will eternally shake my fist at Discord if it does) since I've formed a lot of relationships here and made some good memories, but I have an addictive/obsessive personality so I occasionally have to take breaks from and/or cut back on stuff before I go too deep down the rabbit hole and it starts actively interfering with real life. Usually taking breaks is easier because the temptation to get sucked in is really strong for me.

you're probably alone on OVERRULED, leon - i enjoy that one a lot, too.

oh, and yeah, TAKE THAT for edgey sounds really different. his OBJECTION is one of the GOAT, though. i think AA1 honestly has the best objections - phoenix's original, edgeworth's original, and karma's.

AAI2's segments are long enough that i would be totally fine with updates at save points rather than at beginning/middle/end, FWIW.

so true. i don't mind using them for something this good that people haven'd had equal access to. (and if it weren't good enough to merit consideration, i wouldn't deem it important enough to discuss!)

been there for sure. that's my biggest vice with B8 - the playthrough, where you don't know when your current segment of AA - or DR, as was the case last summer - is going to end.

contests are not really a thing for me anymore, though.

Almost done with E2-4, but there's something from yesterday I forgot to mention until now. We have more evidence of "Edgeworth is bad with names" during the investigation with Ema. The monkey head from 1-3 is there, and Edgeworth calls it "Mrs. Monkey" again, but Ema says it doesn't sound right and wonders if he got it wrong. Then there's that big fake statue from E1-2, the Alif Red statue. Edgeworth calls it the "Alice Red" statue instead, but Ema notices that the actual name is listed on the price tag. However, she doesn't outright call him out for getting it wrong. She just asks him to repeat the name a few times, and he keeps getting it wrong.

All right, E2-4 complete! In terms of stats, there are five total testimonies: Two against Courtney, one against Blaise, one against Karin/Bonnie, and then the Presto showdown with Blaise. The final piece of evidence is Karin's testimony about the "wavy wig" that tips off Edgeworth about the fact that his beard is fake. There's also a rather lengthy Logic Chess against Blaise. I still find him way too generic of a bad guy to be enjoyable, and all the stuff with the lighter and the weeping doesn't do anything for me, so I'm not going to talk about him very much. I feel like he doesn't really do anything to make this case better other than giving certain characters an obviously evil person to react against. However, the Logic Chess is great because you see a heated and clearly emotional side of Edgeworth that we've never really seen elsewhere. He doesn't mess around or beat around the bush here. He's constantly on the attack against Blaise.

E2-4 End is probably the highlight of Courtney's character because she's slowly but surely starting to reveal her hand. Edgeworth picks up on how differently she's acting, with the visit to his cell and the way she kept giving him chances to prove his case at the P.I.C. hearing. Then the moment when she acts like she's about to indict Kay, and she turns around and indicts Blaise instead is fantastic. However, seeing Courtney suddenly appearing on the left side was kind of jarring because she's so asymmetrical, especially her hair with those ridiculously long bangs over one eye, that it was way too obvious her sprite was just mirrored!

I enjoyed the testimony against Karin/Bonnie because you don't really expect characters like them to be complicit in the crime. The fact that Karin deliberately forged the autopsy report unbeknownst to Bonnie was a really good twist, as well as the fact that she took the victim's place after Blaise killed her. It was kind of neat that they got their own mini-breakdown, too, although I kept expecting/hoping that Bonnie would eventually talk out loud. Oh well.

I felt bad for Sebastian when he comes to the realization that his father is the culprit when they mention the Conductor has a burn mark on his face, and he is well aware that Blaise has one on his face. We even get a humanizing moment from Franziska when she says that you have to learn to accept your father's mistakes, no matter how much you may admire him.

Edgeworth giving Kay back the Promise Notebook at the end is a nice, poignant moment. Watching him defend Kay and believe in her for no other reason than she's his friend would've make Phoenix himself proud. I liked him telling her to believe in him, even if she feels like she can't believe in herself. E2-4 is the case that establishes Kay's long-term value as an assistant across both games and Courtney's role in this game.
