On another note, while I don't mind the trope of bad guys killing their henchman, it reallys bugs me when really high ranking ones misinterpret the personality of their leader so badly.

Seems like the first round of the Regiment de Cuisine will be a clean sweep for the rebels. Soma isn't going to lose in the first round to the 6th seat, and it looks like Central brought in two mooks. They might have been able to beat some members of the rebels.... but not Isshiki and that third seat.

It's a gauntlet style event. People keep fighting until they lose. So Souma will win this, and then some other people will compete, and Souma will compete again later.

It might be that Souma will compete in every single match, but I'd like to see groups rotate in entirely.

Basically, Brave Man, the series' straight man, is supposed to be an orthodox western hero, so his design has hints of both Batman and Superman. The author has noted how he has to go out of his way to make sure his face never looks too similar to Batman's.

As someone who follows Toonami, any theory about it coming back is just fans being desperate. It'd make no sense to skip what's thought by many as the best part of One Piece. Thing is, the show doesn't pull in great enough ratings. If there was an ending in sight, I'm sure they'd have kept it, but there really isn't. It's not gonna recover in ratings because a great arc comes on either. One Piece simply doesn't work well as a weekly show in the Americas with its pacing. Not to mention that the dub is so far behind the original anime, which probably doesn't help either.

Things might have been different if One Piece had aired the uncut dub from the beginning way earlier. Even when 4kids got it, the dub was still way behind, but back then it could perhaps work as a weekly show on TV, not today and not for many years to come. I imagine they stopped now because it's a more natural place to stop than anywhere in beteween Sabaody, Amazon Lily, Impel Down, Marineford and the Post War arc, and all that would keep it on air for 3-4 years to come, almost as long as it's been on since the revivial.

It's a huge shame, but it's understandable. One Piece has plenty of exposure internationally. It's very succesful with DVDs and on streaming sites, so that helps. And I'm glad the Toonami crew gave it one more chance to shine on TV and I just really wanted Water 7 and Enies Lobby to get TV exposure.

Eh, Hungry Marie isn't doing anything original yet. Unless it can set itself apart from the hundred other gender swap mangas, I don't know if it'll last.

I mean, Soma might be ending? It's not like they've foreshadowed anything after this event if they win. As much as I like it, I don't know what else they can do with it at this point that isn't just repeating themselves.

And Gintama is ending, but holy shit is it taking it's time. I imagine the ratings will pick back up once they're done bringing back every goddamn character that has ever been in the series and start focusing on the main guys again.

Also, I actually kinda felt bad for August.

The author for Soma said they have plot mapped up to near graduation, so unless it's tanking hard I don't think they're rushing to end it

There's still stuff like Blue, other cooking schools, etc.
