It's weird how people argue "can't you the gains we've made in terms of civil rights" and the other side goes "yes we acknowledge that but we still have some ways to go" and they still go "yeah... but we've come so far, isn't that good enough?"

The thing I love about the "How dare you complain about X when Y is worse" argument is that the person making it is complaining about an even more minor issue- the fact that you're complaining.
