I make closer to 30k but also regularly work 60 hours a week, so I feel like I should be in here. (I am a grad student for the record)

Or do most people do 60 hour work weeks? I guess I don't actually know, but my understanding was that 40-50 is more typical.

Base salary/pay is what you make before anything is taken out. So pre-tax, 401k, your share of health insurance, etc.

Ah, alright, thanks for the clarification! In my country, in the rare event that someone breaks the social 'taboo' of not talking about salary/money, we always talk about the net amount you receive (so after all of the taxes).

I make about 16k dollars a year, though that's not that bad in my country. I'm a trainee engineer (which means the salary will hopefully go up once I have actual experience).

For reference, the minimum wage in Brazil is about 3400 dollars a year.

I basically can't stay employed for more than a month so I guess I'm part of the gang.

I make $16,000 a year teaching remedial English at a community college. There's some hope of moving up, but it's the only real job I've ever had. I don't have confidence that I could find another if I lost it. After 500 unsuccessful applications, it seems the corporate world doesn't want me.

Low stress tolerance, weak constitution, high social anxiety and mild to severe paranoia makes it really difficult to keep steady gainful employment. Especially in a recession. Like you could hire me, but no company should want to.

do you have a therapist and what if any medications are you on?

No therapist, and no medications, they tend to throw me even further out of wack and makes my skin itch. The only times I've actually tried to kill myself was under the effects of anti-depressants so I have a good reason to want to stay off them. I have tried counseling before but all it did was make me more stressed out, and felt like I was burning money out of my pockets.

I don't think you need an antidepressant. You need an anxiolytic and maybe an antipsychotic to help manage the anxiety and paranoia. Neither of those generally have black box warnings for increased suicidality like some antidepressants so they shouldn't make you feel worse.

It sounds like whoever prescribed meds to you really didn't understand how best to help
