The show isn't trying to convince you that belief is true, but it is using that uncomfortable train of thought to compound the flippant behavior of Rick and, thus, the dark humor when he mocks Morty's "playthrough" ect. People who seek this point out are seem to be just looking for a reason to disagree with the show, considering this is far greater lengths than most comedy will go to to make you think about these things.
