Only ones I can think of are the school trip and school festival, in addition to the obligatory Christmas Eve and Valentine's Day scenes. I haven't gotten any additional bonus scenes

Just got the Tower confidant and I don't believe this kid is a guy. Immediately thought it was a girl. Also the voice is bad.

It's Barbara Goodson, who has been in practically everything. I'd heard she was Rita, which is hilarious looking back at it now. I always think of her as Naota from FLCL.

MASSIVE SPOILERS LATE NOVEMBER YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Wow, I was right about the team intentionally letting Joker get himself caught. Who would've thought Akechi's throwaway line about pancakes would be the thing that nails him. That's a pretty well crafted plan that was thought up, relying on Sae to somehow play along. The anime cutscene with Joker smirking knowing the gambit paid off and Ryuji saying "We got 'em" made me smile.

Akechi being the traitor wasn't much of a twist. But how he got completely played was awesome. And I'm going to enjoy beating the everloving shit out of him in the next palace.

ESPECIALLY after that stupid unnecessary cutscene with Akechi and Shido explaining their plan for some reason. Like, it felt sooo goddamn awkward. That motive rant just felt out of place. Maybe they had to stack that on top of the Thieves explaining things to Sae and Sojiro?

I popped through a YouTube playthrough before where I was to hear how the dub sounds. Actually sounds like the best Persona dub yet, which is saying something IMO! But still, the Japanese track is freaking unbelievable so it's still an easy pick for me. Way too many god tier seiyuus all crammed in to one game.

My stats are finally maxed and I think I have every Confidant now. Wonder how many I can manage to max out before I beat it. Probably not many, but that's what NG+ is for.

Yeah the dub is fantastic outside of 'Sack-ah-mah-toe' etc

Given the lackluster party and "unity" aspect, I will say they made the "Confidants" better than either than previous installment. Better in terms of overall character intrigue, usefulness to the party, and the mechanics about how one goes about meeting and leveling them up. There are some hangups about MAX CHARM FOR MAKOTO (level 6 event WTF?), but for those stupid walls, they give you stat boosts in certain links, and let you know whether you level up on you damn phone. That's even before putting the rewards for completion on the table.

The only ones I am not feeling thus far are the Twins and Mishima. The Twins because it retraces Margaret's to a tee, while Mishima is a turd. If the rewards weren't EXP based, I wouldn't level him at all. I rag on Ryuji, but he's in my party at least. I kinda have to do that one.

I prefer the dub of 4, but 5 still has a pretty great dub. I should be able to max the party members I care about along with Death, Temperance, Sojiro and Mishima. Might have more free time than I realize so we'll see. I don't even need any of the benefits from Futaba's and if the last PC is who I think it is I'm not interested so that can wait for NG+ too.

Welp. First death in the game (playing on medium for the record :/ )

Was up against a series of higher level enemies, Had one left and I missed the spell to kill it, after which it proceeded to use some AoE spell on my party. Got a crit on one of them so it used the same spell again and ended up wiping everyone.

Oh well I guess it's slightly less painful than dying to completely random enemies using a stray Mudo spell on Joker, which I've been terrified of for a while, but still. (Also why does this series still have both instant death spells and a party leader death=game over mechanic? It's fucking horrible design and is actually the one thing that has always pissed me off about the SMT series)

Because the MC is 85% of your fighting strength due to persona swapping

If you were able to revive him you would almost never lose any battles because TPKs are exceedingly rare and recovery items/healing are so strong in this series. And the game gives you tons of ways to deal with instant death attacks. I've never died to an instant death attack in P5 and I'm at the end of the game, and it was exceedingly rare in P3 and 4 as well once I got used to it being a thing.

I've died.... twice I think. Mostly because I didn't have tarunda for the Palace 1 boss and I'm stingy on items.

"It is rare" and "there are ways to deal with it" are both true statements that don't change the fact that I shouldn't have to deal with something like always walking around with nul-Death/Holy (I don't know what they're actually called) just to avoid a completely random 2% chance of death from those skills.

And obviously the solution is "don't put instant death spells in the game" rather than removing the party leader death thing, because yeah that would make the game a lot easier.

Wouldn't the obvious solution be, using tcaz's objections, "don't make total party kills exceedingly rare" and "don't have as strong recovery/healing"?

Because that would make the game challenging and fun. Whereas getting a game over just because one character dies is annoying and stupid. So if you remove that element, and balance the rest of the game around it, then you would have a better game, which I assume is a goal most video games have.

I agree that might be better, but it's less straightforward to implement (because it probably requires rebalancing other things), and I was only thinking in terms of quick/easy solutions to the problem.
